Busted: Saga of the Missing Jewels (red, white and blue challenge)

Wow! What a great time I had working with this week's Stuck on U Sketches DT project! Our challenge was to use the posted Pagemaps sketch AND to incorporate the colors red, white and blue .. for me that's quite a challenge!  I am extremely patriotic but those are so not my colors to work with.  And ... since I just completed an actual red, white and blue layout a few weeks ago, I decided to take a bit of creative license and mix in a few other colors as well.

I pulled out some of my fave Webster's Pages Postcards in Paris and WP Lullaby Lane.  The trick was adding in some white since the background is largely cream .. but I got it in by using some white lace and a white pearl flourish.  I had this photo of gd Peyton laying on my desk and thought it would be perfect for this week's sketch. Don't you love that expression?

The element I concentrated on first was that window awning from Postcards in Paris.  I used my craft knife to cut around the lower part of it so that I could slide the horizontal paper strip under it. Additionally, I cut it from a second piece of the same paper and pop dotted and bent the awning section so  that it looked more dimensional. Love how that turned out! Then I cut the vertical strips which you can see in the first photo and did a little MS punchwork as well. This was mounted on a piece of the Lullaby Lane paper.

I used more of the LL in the vellum for my photomat which I cut with my CM deckle-edge trimmer.  And I used my MS deep edge shell punch above the photo and embossed that piece with my Swiss Dots folder.

The title was actually done last but here is a close-up of that. I used some Red Tinsel Thickers for the Title and some small MM alphas for the subtitle.  You can also see the little Rocking horse which I fussy cut and added in here. There is a wee girl that I did the same with and added in the top left hand corner .. kind of hard to see her though.  I used my Cricut Indie Art cartridge to cut a few butterflies which I scattered around. They each have pearls on the bodies and Stickles on the wings.

This is a better shot of the gorgeous lace I used from Joann's Fabric store. The pearl flourish is Say it in Crystals.  The blue Flutter Vine and large red flower are also Prima and were in my stash.
Instead of a second photo, I did more fussy cutting and added that piece in beside my photo and added a blue Prima Madrigal flower. There are several more fussy cut pieces added in throughout the layout to ensure there was plenty of red and blue.

I'm not sure why I took this last photo except to be sure you could see the punchwork as well as the red, white and blue all in one photo.  You can also see one of the MM word strips over to the left. I finished off the photo with a couple of WP Sparklers. I think that about covers everything except to say thanks to Floren at Generations Crafting  who helps keep my stash fully stocked!  She just started carrying the Webster's Pages a while back and I'm so glad she did!

Have a safe and happy weekend! Thanks for coming by!
