Sandi's February Anatomy of a Page

Hello, everyone! Sandi here with you today to share how I created my "Memories" layout from the gorgeous February Limited Kit.  I wanted to try a bit of a different "look" for me. I rarely use black and white or cream in this ratio but I thought it might look really cool with this photo that my son-in-law took during a recent trip to NYC.  It is a street photo taken near the New York library.

So, first I gathered up the papers and most of the flowers and supplies that I was certain that I would use. I already had my "doily" paper nearby, knowing that I was going to be fussy cutting those doilies. I also loved all the great frames in this kit. There are so many ways that they can be used! Be sure to check the Design Team gallery for loads of ideas!

Next, I used my Martha Stewart Deep-edged Scroll Heart punch on just one edge.

I prepped my paper with clear gesso, then using a stencil (Art is) from my stash, I've applied some molding paste for texture. I took a bit of Lindy's Stamp Gang mist and using just the uptake nozzle, dribbled mist down my page.

Because the width of my black paper was narrower than I wanted, I split in two and spread it apart and then layered my khaki paper over it.

Next, I simply began building up my layers. Adding in those doilies, tucking in the flowers and gold trim. There is loads of chipboard and stickers in this kit!

You can see in the final photo above that I did continue after after daylight, adding in and changing .. as often seems to happen. When my layout was done, I went over everything with gesso to blend.

My Creative Scrapbook February Limited Kit Reveal, Part 2

Hi, there! I'm back today with my last project from the February My Creative Scrapbook Limited Edition Kit! This photo is a sweet dgd posing for me this last Christmas.

This Kit features Carta Bella's beautiful Yesterday collection by Lori Whitlock. It's packed with gorgeous vintage-y papers, chipboard, sticker elements to use and design with, as well as glittery and shiny gold Heidi Swapp gold word titles. Of course, lots of pretty Prima! Authentique petite type letters, open road frames and 4 kinds of trims.

I had lots of flowers left from my other projects and decided to use them up here! I misted the white Prima eyelet flowers with LSG mist and layered in the others along with Carta Bella doilies, frames and chipboard.

I am so excited about my next Kit!
All I can say is, it's beautiful!!
You're going to love it!

My Creative Scrapbook February Limited Kit Reveal, Part 1

"Lucille"

Hello, everyone! Time for another My Creative Scrapbook Kit Reveal! I worked with the Limited Edition Kit as always. It was filled with Carta Bella's beautiful Yesterday collection by Lori Whitlock. The flu has hit my house but I tried to work through it because this is a beautiful kit!

Of course, I'm leading off with my Lucille Ball page. I am still researching the photographer on this one.  It is a publicity photo from the 1940's found on Tumblr. I apologize for my photos this month. They do seem very dark.

"6 months"

This is my happy little granddaughter! Oh my, time goes by too fast! I wanted just a little but not too much mixed media on this one, so I've used parts of my 6x6 ledger stencil here and molding paste. Then followed with gesso. Lots and lots of layers, frames and flowers.  Had so much fun tucking here and there.

"Memories"

I am doing a tutorial on this page but I thought I'd try doing a different color palette for a change. Kind of mix things up! I never really do black and white, so this is my version of that. I'm using a photo taken by my son-in-law doing a recent trip to NYC. I love it and thought it looked so good with these papers! I may even scrap this photo again soon .. love it so much! I have to comment on the gold trim in the Kit. It is really awesome! Looks great and is so perfect for these papers! I wanted to use it on every page! LOL But loved tucking into this cluster!

I have one more project to share with you in a few days. I know, I should have done 2 and 2 like I usually do but I  liked the way that these 3 went together. :)

Thanks for coming by! I always appreciate visitors.
Especially now that I don't keep my blog as busy as I used too!
Take care!
