Marion Smith Designs and Petaloo Blog Hop!

Hello, Marion Smith Designs fans! Sandi here with you today sharing a Graduation card and tag set that I made for the Marion Smith Designs/Petaloo Blog Hop.

I've used the  MSD Junque Gypsy collection along with some yummy Petaloo Darjeeling and Penny Lane mixed blossoms. Petaloo blooms of any kind seem to blend so well with many different types of projects but are perfect for any of Marion's product lines!

I have a couple of family members who are approaching Graduation, so I took the opportunity to make something kind of girly and pretty for them.  Junque Gypsy is my foundation, along with some mediums and bling. The colors of the Junque Gypsy collection are crazy gorgeous and my absolute faves! I've used plenty of layers and a die cut butterfly for high impact.

Here are some close-ups:

I always have fun making tags and experimenting with different ways of creating them uniquely. One of my favorite ways is just using plenty of layers with some pretty punch work and a bow at the top! The Petaloo flowers are the perfect adornment.

Here are some close-ups of the tag:

Well, that's my little Graduation card and tag set! Almost too pretty to give away!

May BAP Tutorial for My Creative Scrapbook

Happy May, everyone! Sandi here with you today to share my Build-a-page on my "Joy" layout created with the May Limited Edition Kit. This is a photo of my daughter, her hubby and their friends when they took a West Coast trip last year. The photo quality isn't all that good but I wanted to scrap it for her anyway as a memento!

First, I cut a square out of the center of the undermost paper to save it for later use.

Then I trimmed about a 1/4 of an inch all the way around the actual base paper. I distressed the edges heavily with my Distrezz-it-all.

After adhering it to the undermost paper, I tore a few strips from that square I cut earlier. I had already decided to place my photo in the upper right to cover the image of the
lady that is printed on the Blue Fern Studios Montage paper. While she is lovely, it didn't work for my photo. At this point, I stopped to apply clear Gesso where I knew I would be adding wet medium.

Then I adhered the two large flowers and laid my photo on top, making sure that it was going to look okay and to see if my two chipboard dangles from Blue Fern Studios were going to fit in as I envisioned them.

I coated my chipboard with white Gesso and then added color with Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge and accented with Tim's Vintage Photo. Later I applied Ranger's Crackle medium and let it air dry overnight. After that I applied some ink and worked that into the crevices.  Looks divine IRL.

Oh, then the fun begins! There is a fabulous Prima stencil in the Kit called Fading Florals. I mixed some white paint into my molding paste and applied it to my background through the stencil. While it was still wet, I scattered on some microbeads from my stash.

I adhered the remainder of my flowers and coated them with more of those same microbeads.

I used watercolors and then ink to colorize some of the leaves, fussy cut them and tucked them into my florals on the right side of the page.

I fussy cut the wee basket of flowers from one of the papers and used it to balance the page. (Had to add microbeads here, too!) Then I added color around my photo with some Lindy's Stamp Gang mist and using a watercolor brush. I tucked in some gauze here and there, added a title and a few finishing touches. To wrap things up, I dabbed white Gesso on everything to blend!

Thanks for coming by and letting me share! I hope you were able to scoop up this amazing Kit. If not, be sure to subscribe and never miss another Kit! Tell them Sandi sent you! :)

Part 2, My Creative Scrapbook May Reveal!

"Awesome" (My May, 2015 Lucy page)

Hello, there!
I'm back today with my second two projects created with the May Limited Edition Kit from My Creative Scrapbook. I've listed the Kit contents on my post from May 5th but suffice it to say "gorgeous-ness  overload!"

I'm not usually a huge fan of pink except that very pale pink really makes me swoon! LOL This one piece of paper is pure  girly, gorgeous! Love it soooo much! So I left some white space on this one and just added some light stenciling using the stencil from the Kit, Fading Floral along with my Memory Box bubbles stencil. I added white paint to frame my photo area and fussy cut some florals and butterflies.

Then I added in the remaining part of the STTG chipboard, some 3-D Prima and Marion Smith flowers and ribbon. From my stash, I added some white pearls.

"Joy"

Here is my 4th project with the Kit featuring a photo of my daughter, SIL and their friends. Even though it's poor quality, I've wanted to scrap it for her.

I'll be sharing a tutorial on this one later this month, so I won't bore you twice with all the details. But do notice the Fading Floral stencil again and those fab Blue Fern Studios dangle chippys. I've inked and crackled them. Wish you could see the crackle detail better. It looks yum! Lots of microbeads from my stash and a fussy cut pot of flowers complete the page.

Closies:

Okay, I think that's it for today! Thanks so much for coming by!

My Creative Scrapbook May Kit Reveal, part 1

"Fabulous"

Hi, there! Today is Reveal Day over at My Creative Scrapbook. I'm bringing you my first two projects created with the Limited Edition Kit.

This month's Kit is a mix of Blue Fern Studios' Montage papers along with some new Lemoncraft papers, the Heart Painted collection. Talk about gorgeous overload in just the papers alone! Then add in the beautiful Prima and Marion Smith flowers, Blue Fern Studios chipboard and other mixed embellies and you have sheer shabby chic scrapper's heaven!

(kit photo)

I've scrapped a couple of photos of my daughters taken last Christmas. They were taken quickly with my phone and aren't the best but they sure make me happy! I had some mixed media fun with my fave Donna Downey stencil, molding paste and LSG Grab a Guy Gold mist. My Blue Fern Studios dangle chippy was painted with white gesso, inked and then randomly heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Gold.

I did the unthinkable and cut a title with my Silhouette. :) Added a tag, a bow and some journaling. The butterfly was fussy cut from one of the papers.

Here are some close-ups:

"Pure Beauty"

Oh, this one was fun! I was going to scrap a totally different photo but I inadvertently dropped this vintage one on my paper stack and loved how this photo looked on the pale yellow paper. Then when I was deciding on embellies, I thought I'd use the little fussy cut tag with the boat full of flowers. Then .. I decided to transform it into a book .. having been inspired by a couple of artistic friends.

Initially I was inspired by Angelica Franssen's Timeless Beauty layout. At first glance I thought there was a book on the layout but there isn't. I quickly realized that I must have had Kathleen White's Helmar project still in my head when I looked at Angelica's page. Kathleen created a fabulous book to sit atop her Eerie Tale's box. So, I mimicked that design to place on my layout. In love!!! This little book was so much fun to create.

There is also a whole lot of fussy cutting going here! The butterflies, some of the florals, the birdcage and bird as well as the "PURE" subtitle which was cut from watercolor paper and inked.  I used some Inklings to create my gold edge on the book pages.

Of course, I can't leave out the sweet chipboard from Stay True to God and the little alphas. As usual, I have created texture and color on the background.

Here are your close-ups:
(I did forget to add my last minute "blending" gesso before I took the photos but it's been done!)

Thanks so much for coming by! I'll be back on Friday or Saturday with my other two projects created with this Kit. I seriously couldn't pick a fave layout this time. They all have a little something special in my mind.

See you then!

Oh, don't forget to check out what the rest of the team has done with all 4 kits from My Creative Scrapbook. Visit the DT Gallery to be inspired!
