Just the 2 of Us ~ Scraps of Elegance Kit Club

Is there anything sweeter than babies? Especially when one meets his sister for the first time?
This "melt my heart photo" was the inspiration for a soft, tender layout created with my January "Be Mine" Kit from Scraps of Elegance Kit Club. I've used the Main kit, the Co-ordinating Paper add-on, the Elements kit,  the Color add-on and the Flower add-on.

I've use the ScrapBerry's Fairytale paper as my base along with torn strips from Blue Fern Studios Heartland Bicycle for Two (both sides.) For photo layers I've used the Heartland Love Notes paper as well as the Kaisercraft ephemera pack. My florals are a mix of Main Kit Heartland Roses and Blooms along with Prima and Petaloo flowers from the Floral add-on. The Heartland bloom was tinted peach so that it would co-ordinate better with the peach tones found in the papers. These warm tones are so "me" and make creating so enjoyable!

I finally had an opportunity to use the silver hearts from the MK. I misted and gessoed my twine to make it less red. Here I've added some art stones and a flower from my stash.

The rhinestones in the MK are wonderful and there are so many of them! I'm all set for the rest of the year, LOL.

Before starting my layout, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a stencil to add some dimension and character to the background paper. I knew I wanted to do less mixed media on this paper, so went with the dry ink. You can also see my Blue Fern Studios chipboard which was embossed with BFS Sage (stash) and BFS Cotton Candy embossing powder from the Color Add-on. I also dabbed it with gesso to blend the entire page. The large peach bloom was originally pink but altered to match these particular papers.

I had to add the music note wood icons from Kaisercraft because the parents of these sweet babies are both musicians. And the Kasiercraft ephemera add so much to the layout.

Just a larger view of the chipboard .. which looks little darker green than it actually is.

In the lower left corner, I wanted to add some balance, so layered a subtitle or two from Kaisercraft along with some of the Blue Fern Studios Bicycle for Two. More flowers from the Floral add-on!

I love taking dimensional shots of my pages, so you can appreciate it's true depth and texture.

And lastly from the other side.

This is project #3 from the January Kit but I still have so much product left!
And eecckkkkkkk, my February Kit is here! I am so ready to dive in but first I need to finish up my "Be Mine" Kit!

If you are not a Kit Club member at Scraps of Elegance/Scraps of Darkness, I can't encourage you enough to take a look at these great kits that Melinda puts together and all the marvelous add-ons available. Not to mention that she has an online store full of scrappy treasures!
