Free ~ Scraps of Elegance May Kit "Mix'd Media"

Hello, scrappy friends!

Sandi here today!
I was a girl with a mission on this particular project! I'd been wanting to scrap this photo of my friend Holly but hadn't gotten around to it as sometimes happens. Suddenly, I realized her birthday was coming up soon .. as in REALLY soon!!!  So I got busy .... fast!

As I shuffled through my May Scraps of Elegance Mix'd Media Kit, there were so many ways to go with this one. I had lots of great paper choices. However, when I stumbled upon the 7 Dots Cotton Candy Dreams Sugar Haze, I  knew it was "the one." With the beautiful greens and oranges, half the work was already done for me. It just needed some personal touches.

After preparing my background, I did some random stamping and applied some super heavy gesso through a stencil for interest and depth. Of course, I got the mists out and played with those as well. While that was drying, I took some chipboard from my stash and painted them up with the Finnabair Rust Paints from the Scraps of Darkness May "Attic Finds" Creativity Kit. This particular Kit as a whole was full of my fave earth tones, so I had to grab them up while I could!!! Not ashamed!

Just to bring more texture toward my photo, I've used a scrap of wide burlap ribbon underneath my photo and layered lots of the floral ephemera as well as some flowers from the Kit and from my stash.

The Free title chipboard piece is from the coordinating Blue Fern Studios Happy Accident collection and is found in the Main Kit. I thought it counter-balanced nicely here.

Here I've tucked in one of the Prima Metal pieces. Perfect for an outdoors photo. Of course, I added a butterfly in keeping with outdoors.

The photo was taken several years ago, so I must note that the horse and rider take much bigger jumps now. But I love this particular photo for some reason. My friend has trained really hard to enter into "eventing" and compete again younger women.

Final touches were to splatter some mists around the focal area.

That's about it!
I've left my project untrimmed because I plan to shadow box it and I'm unsure how my dimensions will turn out.

Thanks for coming by!
