13 Arts Card and Tag Set

Hello, everyone!
Sandi here with you today sharing a sweet card and tag set created with products from the new In Bloom and Under the Stars collections as well as some faithful oldies.

For the card front, I've used strips of 2 different papers (Magnolia and  Bees and Blossoms) from  In Bloom collection and used both side A and B to create 4 patterns. This is a great way to create cards from your scraps although truthfully, I used my new 12x12 sheets because my card is 6.5 inches long.  And just because I wanted to play!

After securing the 4 strips, I started selecting products for the focal area of the card, starting with a clock from the His and Hers Chipboard Set which I altered with the Patina Bronze Mist and highlighted with Old Gold Pearl Mist and Brown Water Ink.  While I was doing the clock, I also altered a chipboard flourish from the new Summer Rhapsody Chipboard. The Beautiful title chipboard is from the same set but I chose to leave that piece unaltered.

I am really enjoying the new ephemera packs and selected some gorgeous pieces from the In Bloom set for the card and from Under the Stars for the tag. The little Bees are elevated with foam squares.  For a little additional texture, I added some floral and decorative pieces from the 13 Arts Flowers

I've used very little wet media on the card and tag set except for lightly dabbing with white gesso and splattering with my Patina Bronze Mist

The chipboard flourish from Summer Rhapsody is so delicate and gorgeous!
At the base of my card, I've adhered a phrase from our new Black Chipboard Words set.

Here is just a side view to show you some of the layers.

Next I created this simple tag to co-ordinate with my card.
For a smashing tag every time, use 3 layers and do a bit of old school punch work at the bottom.
Then add a few layers of ephemera and a gorgeous tulle bow.

I really wanted to highlight the Bumble Bees, so I used that as the top layer of my tag.
Then added some ephemera from Ephemera pack ~ Under the Stars and a few flowers.

Lastly, I dabbed with white gesso and splattered with my Patina Bronze Mist. Added my tulle bow for the crowning touch.

Now I am all set for the next time I am needing a handmade card!

Loaded tag ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my latest Large Tags, 10 inch for the blog. I've called it a Loaded Tag because it's full of tiny details.  The photo in the center was taken by my friend Susan Howell on one of her trips to Ireland. I have several that she has given me to use.

Firstly, I covered my large tag with papers from 13 Arts new Summer Rhapsody collection and layered them. Next I did some stamping with the Circle Bokeh Stamp and then some stenciling with the Distressed Patterns Stencil and heavy gesso. When that was dry, I dabbed with some 13 Arts Chalk mist.

After experimenting with placement, I added the Window Shutters as layering pieces .. one at the top and another at the bottom. They were sprayed with walnut ink and dabbed with some 13 Arts paints. Once those were in place, I added a note card from the paper collection and placed one of the doily frames from the Doily Frame Set 1 to serve as a frame for my photo.  It was treated the same as the the shutters.

After adhering my photo, I carefully placed my Heart Dangle 2 on the right side of the photo. A few months ago, I created a project for another DT and created a second dangle as I was working. I've been keeping this second one for just the right project. To see how I've altered it, please visit my blogpost HERE.

Once the Heart Dangle was in place, I simply began adding my florals, ephemera and other embellishments until I was satisfied. As always, I ending up covering much of my stamping and stenciling but that seems to be how I create best!

Below are some more close-ups for you:

(aw, a little of the stamping and stenciling)

Thanks so much for coming by the blog today!
I so appreciate your support.

There are lots of great new designs in the store, so I hope you are enjoying the retail therapy as much as I am!

"Lucy" Canvas with 13 Arts (new product)

Hello, 13 Arts fans!

Today we have a group post over at the 13 Arts Blog featuring the new product collections.
I was in the mood to create a canvas and used a publicity photo of Lucille Ball from 1935. A good photo always gets me creative .. as well as new supplies!

My Design Team box from 13 Arts was loaded again this time with all 4 new collections and the co-ordinating stencils, foil, ephemera and chipboard as well as some extra supplies I needed.

I wanted to have a crackle effect on my canvas so I've added Magic Powder to my gesso. After 24 hours it was ready to go. I also stenciled on top of that but because my surface was bumpy, it looked slightly different.

I did some random stamping as well before I applied my paints.

I had already decided to use the Under the Stars collection along with the In Bloom collection and coordinated my paint/mist to work with those colors. My colors are all listed below. Once that was dry, I was able to add my photo layers and embellishments. At the last minute I decided to add some foil transparency to fill a blank area and am so pleased with how it turned out.

I am loving all the ephemera packs that we received this time as I am not a big fussy cutting fan. These are all so beautiful including the florals, butterflies and bumble bees

Here are some more close-ups for you:

Together We Have it All! ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, everyone!
Sandi here with you today sharing my latest project for Creative Embellishments.
I went with a layout this time ... more of a clean and simple than my normal because I really wanted to let the new Scroll Set 1 take the limelight.

This is a fairly recent photo of part of our family! Yes, we are a big family and we have lots of fun. I'm laughing at my own photo because there are SO many people, you can hardly see any faces, haha!

Anyway, I used the Scroll Set 1 to bookend the photo if you will rather than layer under or over. I thought it brought about a nice focal area. My chippys are all simply stained with walnut ink and dabbed with gesso.

My papers are 13 Arts coupled with some Kaisercraft embellies and older Petaloo florals.

This photo highlights the title piece which also really packs a punch! You can find it here: Together We Have it All.

Around it you can see some of my random stamping with the Distressed Crackle Stamp.

I tried to keep my embellishments to a minimum so that that scroll would really stand out. I'm sure next time, I'll be covering it as usual.

And then the other side. I didn't use an wet media to speak of this time. Just a few splatters and dabs of white gesso.

I hope you've seen our new July challenge.
This time it is a color challenge!
See you next time!

Shake, shake, shake! Creative Embellishments!

Hello, everyone!
Thanks so much for dropping by today.

Sandi here sharing a couple of shaker cards.
I'm feeling so blessed to be back for another term here at Creative Embellishments! I love this company so, so much .. fabulous products and wonderfully awesome owners!

You may recall that I was needing a bazillion birthday cards for June and July, so I've been busy cranking them out!

This first lovely card was created from paper scraps and of course, my Creative Embellishments chipboard. I wanted to go with the raw unaltered chippy to create a natural look.

After randomly using the Distressed Moroccan Stamp and brown ink on the background,  I got busy putting together the gorgeous Heart Shaker Set which includes the spacers and the acrylic needed to make a shaker. I added paper to the bottom heart shape and then assembled the next two layers before I was ready to add my beautiful shaker mix. DT member Jen Snyder introduced us to the lovely products at Buttons Galore and More and wow, they are gorgeous! Here, I've used the Unicorn mix. Lastly, I added the acrylic and top piece before deciding to gussy it up some more with a butterfly from the Flourish Butterfly Set 2. After adhering the butterfly, I dabbed it with white gesso, then added a button and twine.

For a title or quote, I rummaged around and found this "Love" chippy from the Love Day set. This is the smaller piece.

Here are some close-ups:

Next. I made a little teddy bear card .. isn't he/she just the cutest?

Using some vintage Romance Novel papers, I created my layered background. I was going for showcasing the yellows and golds because I wanted to use this other shaker mix from Buttons Galore and More called Safari Sunset. Originally, I was looking for a paper with some red in the pattern but opted to go this route instead. I think this teddy bear would look outstanding on some red Christmas themed paper though, don't you?

Here is a bit of an angled shot to give you an idea of depth.
I felt that the card needed a little something else, so I opted to add a couple of buttons from the Buttons set. Once again all the chippys were left raw. I just did a bit of random inking to highlight the edges here and there. Lastly, I added a few more embellishments and my card was done!

With the help of these cute Shaker sets, your cards or projects can be completed in record time ... as long as you don't spend as much time as I do deciding on paper, lol!

Thanks for coming by today!
Our July Challenge is now live ... a color challenge this time.
Play along and have some fun.

See you next time.

13 Arts July Challenge ~ Enjoy! layout with Sandi

Hello, scrappy friends!
It's the first of the month and time for a new challenge at 13 Arts.
This month Christine is our Challenge Hostess and has provided the best prompts.
I'll show you that in a sec.

Here is my take on the Challenge.
I went with the colors of the challenge, although technically you could be inspired by the textures, images and so forth.

I began my project as usual by selecting my papers and photos, then coming up with a design and preparing my background. (This is sweet granddaughter Clara on her third birthday.)

13 Arts has the best mediums around, so prep work is fun for me.
I've used the Wallpaper StencilModeling PasteClear Gesso, the Numbers Stamp and of course my inks and paper!

Paper selections are Blue Magnolia at DuskAria Story paper - Lyrics and Blue Magnolia paper pad 6x6.

My paint choices were: Rainbow Color Duo Yellow AmberRainbow Color Yellow LemonYellow Amber Water Ink and Navy Blue Water Ink.  I pushed them with water and then let them run, drying between colors.

I've also used the Navy Blue Water Ink on all the chipboard pieces which are listed below.

Since Clara turned 3, I decided to use three of a cute series of photos taken with her balloon. She has the funniest little personality and it really shines through in her photos.

I also tinted some of the 3D balls with the Yellow Amber Water Ink and added them here and there.

I used some photos from my stash to further enhance my color combo although you could also find great choices from the 13 Arts store or alter some white ones with the inks below.

If you are wondering about the tags, I just used a tag punch from my stash and cut some of the Blue Magnolia paper pad 6x6 papers. Punched a hole and inserted some twine.

Here is the challenge photo:

I appreciate you so much.
