Now, are you ready to see some of my kit creations?!!

Layout using the Main kit and personal stash

On my first layout, I've used a Prima gate stencil and some molding paster for a bit of fun. Then added some fussy cut flowers from the Ladies Diary paper along with a favorite Dusty Attic branch that I snipped in to 3 pieces. I've used the ivory Petaloo flowers from the kit as well as some small Primas from my stash. I love love love the yarn that Kate put in the kit this month and now I want to go buy some more! Didn't it just make the yummiest bow?  This layout is based on a sketch by my sweet friend and co-leader, Leah Schaeffer of Stuck on U Sketches.

Layout using the Main kit, EAO and FAO

I thought I would do something a bit different and went with one of my dgd's horse photos again.  I thought that this Victorian lady might have a few horses in her life! I've covered my paper with some gesso to really make my photo and the fussy cut images pop. The Prima flower is from the EAO abd the small Prima roses are from the FAO. Again, I've used a  Dusty Attic piece that I painted multiple colors. It is really more Rust in color than Red. Of course, you can see that I've used a Martha Stewart PAP that I've neglected for a bit.

Next, I decided I would create something besides a layout this time and came up with this adorable shoe using the Main Kit and the FAO.  I will be presenting a tutorial on this shoe during the month of September. Stay tuned!

Layout using the Main Kit, EAO and FAO.

I wanted to see if I could get a "guy" layout out of these Ladies Diary papers and came up with this  page of my dgs, Isaac. He's young enough to still get away with a few flowers, right? Anyway, this layout is based on the wonderful sketch provided by above by DT member and sketch designer, Amarylis Doria. It was really fun layering my papers and using the gorgeous doily from the kit, along with some cool Prima Bling and Zva and Petaloo blooms! I also snuck in a doily flower. Tutorial coming up on that in October!

Card using Main Kit only along with personal stash

Lastly .. yes, I know... so many projects and I still have lots of product left!
I also put together this really great card and love how it looks!

I'm sure you are ready to move on to the last leg of the Hop.  Thanks so much for coming by!

My SECRET WORD is: DIARY

Now, hop on over to the ScrapThat! Forum for the final leg of the Hop! Have a great weekend!

One last August Scrap That! Layout

"Friends"

Most of you have probably seen this one but it seems to have been a popular one in the galleries, so I thought I'd post it here again with more detail.

I've used a photo of my dgd with one of her horses. I chose the large Die Cut paper along with the brown print paper (Illusion) and added a Dusty Attic grass border (from my stash) as well as a Dusty Attic chicken wire piece behind my photo. Lots of gesso, Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam made them come to life. I hope you got in on Scrap That!'s last Dusty Attic order because the chippys are such a nice element to add to your pages.

I've also used my fav Donna Salazar Twig stamp to enhance my "grassy" area, then made a few flowers with my Spellbinders Rose Creations die to go along with a few from the kit. There is some wet distressing which I had a tutorial on earlier this month.  Note that the wooden butterfly is from the EAO and the light green flowers and the brown Glimmer Misted flowers are from FAO. I also did some more of my random punch work along a few sides ... as well as some machine stitching.

Sneak peeks of the September Scrap That! Kit will be posted next week  ... I'm super excited about this upcoming kit reveal! I've got tons of projects to share!

Thanks for coming by!

August 15th Card sketch ~ SOUS ~

Wow! August 15th? Where has this month gone? Seems like life is flying by at the speed of light these days! But ... it is time for another Card Challenge Reveal Day over at Stuck on U Sketches. This time we have a sketch by the lovely Leah Schaeffer. You're gonna love it .. it really has so many possibilities although I followed it almost to the letter!

I've used some gorgeous Prima Almanac papers that have been languishing in my scrap room. I have so much pretty stuff that it all screams for my attention, so some of it lags behind the rest depending on my mood.  It sure made for a pretty card, though and is backed by a tan BoBunny Double Dot card stock as well as Recollections card base.

My circles were cut with a CM punch and are 1.5 inches. The top 6 of them were mounted on foam squares but the other 3 are flat for layering of some yummy black lace at the bottom. The Best Wishes sentiment is again a Heartfelt Creations one stamped on cream card stock and cut and embossed with my Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Oval Die. This was mounted on a simple rectangle with rounded corners and adhered with foam squares for dimension.

The circles as well as my sentiment are embellished with a variety of matching Prima Almanac supplies and florals as well as some matching MS pearls. The faux stitching along the sides is a BoBunny rub-on .. which I love!  I decided that the card needed a little something more, so kind of last minute I added the thin black ribbon along the side, and added another small charcoal bloom to my bow.

Inside there is mere more of the BoBunny card stock serving as a lining. I will most likely computer generate a message on white card stock when this is ready for giving and   adhere that to the lining. Maybe add a quick MS punched butterfly and send it on out!

Thanks for coming by! I hope that you will join our Card Challenge this time! We want to see your creations! I am sure that many of you are in the Back to School mode .. or wrapping up this last of the Summer plans, but if you have time, we hope you will play!

Have a scrap happy week! Love reading your comments!

A couple more Scrap That! Layouts ~

Hi, scrappers! I'm back today with details on a couple more of my Scrap That! August kit projects.

I was itching to do a round layout this time! I am always  inspired by Helena Johansson's work and she does lots of beautiful round pages. The die cut paper behind my layout is a very old paper from my stash made by Creative Imaginations. I thought it made a pretty border.

I split the large Zva flower (FAO) in half to use on either side of the photo after painting it (yes, painted it!) to match my paper. You will also note the lovely Kaisercraft crochet doilies from the EAO that I've layered and used as flowers with brads from the MK as flower centers. I sneaked in another Dusty Attic piece from my stash (Scroll Border #2) and adorned it with the blue decorative stone from the MK after sponging some Adirondack Salmon paint over my chippy. It is finished with lots of Gesso to give it a whitewashed look. I love how it spills over the page. I also dabbed some gesso around the outer edge of the layout on the Kaisercraft paper.

Here's a close-up:

And next we have little Bobby!

"Bobby" (LO using MK, EAO and FAO)

This is the other twin grandson, Bobby.  He is the cuddle-bug! He has dark hair and eyes and look at that adorable face! Again, I've gone flower crazy but Grandpa says it's okay  .. he is a baby after all. Whew! Seriously, I had tons of fun putting this page together! This was the last project I did and I literally finished off the flowers!

The tulle and cheesecloth worked great on this page. I was overjoyed to see them in our kit this time! This time, I wrapped the tulle around the photo and then placed a couple of flowers over the knot. I've added the Petaloo Chipboard Frame (EAO) behind my photo, then topped it with cheesecloth and flowers. The yummy green Prima flowers are from FAO and the white and peach (originally white) are from the main kit.

Again, I've used my MS Floral Vine punch. And the little sprig of white leaves? I made them for the June Reveal and lost them before I had a chance to use them. I was pleasantly surprised to find them hiding in a drawer. Sorry about the shadows on my layout but I had to take this photo outside late in the evening. Anyway, here's a little close-up.

I think that's it for today. I am busily working on more Scrap That! projects although I am taking the month of August off at Stuck on U Sketches  (except for the card challenges) ...  so that I can get some home projects done. Meanwhile you can see what the other designers have done by going HERE. Last weeks sketch was dynamite! And this week's Die Cut challenge is Wow!

Thanks for coming by! Hope you have a great weekend!

Danny Boy ~ Scrap That! Layout

I thought I would take a few days here and there to highlight some of my creations done with my Scrap That! August kit, Once Upon a Dream.  I think every single project was my favorite! I really loved the brown, peach and teal tones so prevalent in the Kaisercraft Charlotte's Dream collection.

I've been inspired by all the drippy paint artists that I've seen lately, so it is hard to credit just one person. But I've been dying to get a little more bold with it as I have done here. Perfect for this rowdy little grandson of mine! (He is one of my dd's twin boys and is named after my hubby.) Otherwise, I've added lots of soft elements to the page to go along with my sweet grandson's soft blonde hair and skin. Such delicate features that offset his boyish antics. Since he is still a baby, I thought I could get away with flowers and ribbon. LOL There is Dusty Attic from my stash  (French Flourish and the baroque circle) along with florals from the main kit as well as Manor House flowers from my own stash. The tulle, lace and little Prima bird nest are all from the main kit. This page served as my Main Kit only layout, adding only Dusty Attic, paper doilies and Manor House blooms (peach) from my own stash.

There is some punch work under the French Flourish border done with the MS Floral Vine punch and her Cherished Hearts punch.  They are somewhat covered with the French Flourish border which looks so incredible in person. I first painted it with white gesso, then sponged it with an Adirondack Juniper blue paint dabber and lastly sponged it randomly with more gesso. I've done basically the same thing on the Baroque circle but the FF border just looks more delicate.

I've used the ribbon in the main kit to tie a bow over my main flower cluster and added the Prima bird nest there.  The tulle is used over on the left where I've added a button and twine. I misted a couple of doilies to go behind the photo, then added some Liquid Pearls to enhance their look. Speaking of the photo, it looks a bit crooked but it is actually my photo of the layout that is off just a bit.

All the distressing was done with my Distrezz-it-all along with my Ingvild Bolme distress tool.

I think that's about it. I'll try to make it back in a day or two to present another one or two of my layouts. I know they sort of get lost on Reveal Day in those very long posts.

Thanks for coming by! Hope you have a great week!

Sandi C's Scrap That! Tutorial for August

Hello there, scrappers! Here's the tutorial I have posted at Scrap That! today.

It's Sandi Clarkson here today with a super quick tutorial for Scrap That! Kit Club on wet distressing your patterned papers.  There are a number of ways to accomplish the same thing but this is the method I use most frequently.

First, I use my chalk inks or distress inks to define and distress  the paper edges.  I really like the heavily distressed look, so I usually get a lot of ink on the paper.

After doing that, I go ahead and start wetting my paper usually all the way around the page but sometimes I do random corners. Here, I've taken an old spray bottle and turned it in to a mini-mister. Sometimes, I will paint the water on the paper with a brush for a nice uniform coating. I have even gone so far as to run water from the kitchen sink over my paper. But the misting is what I do most frequently.

Once the paper is moist, I begin folding the paper back towards me in a fan folded manner. I try to work gently to avoid unplanned tearing of the paper. However, if that happens, I accept that as a creative result and don't worry about it too much!

Once the paper  is pulled back about like I want it to be, I then heat set the wrinkles with my heat gun.
That way it stays in place nicely and you can continue working versus waiting for the paper to dry.

Here was the end result of my page. You can see that I further bent and curled some of my edges with my fingers to complete the distressed look.

I hope that you will give it a try and let me  know  how this works for you.

August 1st Card Sketch ~ SOUS ~

Hello, there, bloggers! I hope that you are having a great week so far! Can you believe that it is the first day of August already? Where has this Summer gone?? Of course, here is Texas August is usually one of our hottest months, so we are not even thinking Fall yet.

So, enough of that! Today it is Card Challenge Reveal Day over at Stuck on U Sketches and our DT has done another great job! Seriously, we have some talented people on our team! We also have another great card sketch, done this time by Guest Designer and former team member Debbie Burns. You can visit her blog HERE. She is one talented lady and we are always excited to have her around! Thanks, Debbie!

We also have another Guest Designer with us for the month of August. Her name is Clare Fordham-Drakes. You can visit her blog HERE. She does amazing work, so you'll want to be sure and visit her.

For my card I've chosen some older Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden papers. This was such a beautiful collection I'm sad to see it go. But here it brought a nice demure look to my card. The trims are also older stash but are from Websters Pages. The teal ribbon made for such a nice, soft bow which I topped with a Petaloo Canterbury rose bloom in teal. Then I added in some leafy branches already cut using my Sizzix die.

My sentiment is a Heartfelt Creations stamp which I love. The Script look really appeals to me. It is stamped on white card stock and then cut and embossed with my Spellbinders Labels 4 Die.   It was then mounted on a larger cut of the same die on some of the PP paper. They were both adhered with foam squares for dimension. The shading was done with my ColorBox chalk ink.

I finished the card with a silver Theresa Collins alterations embellishment and a few flat backed pearls. The inside of the card merely has a matching PP pattern paper as lining at this point, so it is ready for me to adhere any type of message when it is ready to be mailed out.

Thanks for coming by today! I hope that you will pop over to Stuck on U and see what the rest of the Design team has done this time around. But mostly, we can't wait for you to participate and upload your own new project following the sketch!

Have a scrap happy week!
