Valentine's Cards for Creative Embellishments

Hello, scrappy friends!
Sandi  here with you today.
Welcome to Monday and the start of another hopefully great week!

Today I'm sharing a couple of Valentine card ideas.
Whew, for me coming up with a design and choosing my papers are usually the hardest part!
How about you?

And here they are!
Both of these cards were created using Graphic 45s "Birdsong" collection along with their "Place in Time" collection. I love that they have re-released some of these great older collections.
These cards make a pretty duo and will likely go to my poor hubby who suffers through all my feminine themes since creating masculine cards are a struggle for me. But I do have 3 lovely daughters who would also like to receive a thoughtful card from mom.

Because I was itching to use the Heart Balloon Set, my whole card design was based around incorporating part of that set. When I saw this lady and umbrella image with its windswept look, I knew it was a given to use. I've also been enjoying playing around with 4x8 cards lately to see what I can create on a taller card. After layering my papers, I misted the balloons as well as the Forever True Valentines Sentiments with 13 Arts Burnt Sienna Chalk mist.
The balloons were given some height with foam adhesives.
Lastly, some Stickles to provide highlights.
On the left, I added one of the CE wood veneer  Conversation Hearts.

Next up is a design that I have been wanting to re-create based on an old sketch by Leah Schaeffer for Stuck on U Sketches. I've provided the sketch below.

This time, I used the papers that I had remaining from the previous card but I alternated the layering. My circles were cut with an old hand punch. I layered on a couple of cute images and then decorated the remaining circles with wood veneer Conversation Hearts. A strategic single band near the bottom and it was done!

Here is that sketch:

And here is a close-up of the Conversation Hearts I used:

Aren't they cute?

I think that is about it for today!

Memories ~ !3 Arts Solo project with Sandi Clarkson

Welcome to the 13 Arts blog!

I hope that 2020 will be a very creative year for all of us!
Our design team does their very best to provide you with lots of inspiration!

For today's project, I have created a layout featuring a photo from Stella de Libero of one of her lovely designs. I love the juxtaposition of the fabulous gown against the wood slats of the Washed Wood paper, Grungy Walls. I've paired a sheet from Rose Fields, Evening Story  which was torn and layered in the upper center of the page.

After coating my papers with Clear Gesso, I did some stencil work with the Wonderful Nature Stencil and some Modeling Paste. When that was dry, I did some random stamping using the Rose For You A6 Stamp and permanent black ink.

Additional photo layers were created from the Evening Story as well as a white die cut I had on my desk. I've also used one of the wreaths from the In Bloom Ephemera Pack.

For color I've used both Ayeeda Paint - Matte Raspberry as well as Chalk Burnt Sienna mist, often mixing the two. As well as painting with one of my brushes and moving with water, I also did some paint splattering. My white splatters were from the Watercolor set 16 pans - set of watercolors.

For texture, I've used Ecru Sisal3D balls mediumGold Microspheres XS and of course, some 49 and Market florals from my stash along with a few flat-backed pearls.

My chipboard title and flourish piece are both from the Chipboard set Summer Rhapsody A4 and were left natural.

I love adding color around my focal area to make it really pop!

I've used a few pieces of corrugated cardboard to elevate my photo for further dimension.

And here I'm sharing a close-up of the wreath from the ephemera pack.

That's all for today.
We thank you so much for coming by and for supporting us here at 13 Arts.
I'll see you next time!

Winter Cards for Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
Sandi here with you today.

Do you struggle with what to create in the month of January? I do sometimes.
I used to scrap my recent holiday photos but I have turned the memory keeping over to my daughters and mostly create for myself.
It seems early for Valentine cards, so I whipped up a couple of Winter cards that can be used for almost any occasion.

I grabbed a couple of "newish" shakers from my stash and decided to let them be the focal point of my cards, Now, shakers are a bit of work in the assembling stage but they really do provide the WOW factor.

For the first card, I've chosen the Window shaker and altered it with a brown stain. I lined the back of it  with an outdoor photo so that it would seem you are looking towards the outdoors.  I thought a couple of candles in the window would be a nice touch and grabbed a couple of candle chippys from the Christmas Candles set. These were painted with cream and olive green paint and I used some pearl drops for the candle drippings. My papers and paints are all from 13 Arts.

Before adhering the window shaker to the card base, I added an altered Icicle Borders to mimic the weather in the woodsy scene. It was painted white and dusted with Fairy Dust glitter. The sequins and beads inside my shaker are from Buttons Galore and More. Lastly, I painted and dusted the snowflake in the upper right which is from Chipboard Snowflakes. I finished the card with some pearls and doodling along with s sentiment from 13 Arts that I had already laying on my desk.

My second card is glammed up with the Mitten Shaker which is oh-so cute! I lined it with paper from 13 Arts and lightly sprayed the edges with brown and gold mist. The Coral sequins used inside are also from Buttons Galore and More. I've added a poinsettia from the magical Poinsettia Set and sprayed it red and gold. I love all the additional stems and berries that are included in this set. Here I've used one of them and simply painted it green.

Next I added the Winter title piece from the Snow Word Set and altered it the same as the poinsettia. Lastly, I splashed both cards with White Splash paint from 13 Arts. All my papers are from the In Bloom collection from 13 Arts.

I have a couple of family birthdays this month and will probably be using these, although they would be nice as a Get Well or Thinking of You card.

Thanks for coming by today,
See you next time!

Let it Snow ~ Winter Bride layout

Hello, scrappy fans!
I'm back today with my first project of the year, a wintry layout.

I rarely combine Design Team projects but the January challenges for Creative Embellishments and   13 Arts were so similar in theme that I opted to go that route this time.

My gorgeous papers are Moonflowers from the 13 Arts Under the Stars collection .. a fabulous mix of green, blue and gold.  I did some simple stenciling with the 13 Arts  Blizzard of Hearts Stencil and modeling paste. Then some random stamping with the 13 Arts Stempel Serenade A7.

My favorite part of the page is the glorious Tall Trees from Creative Embellishments! I embellished them with 2 different olive watercolors from 13 Arts and then added provided texture per the twist with Aleene's Glitter Snow.

A couple more close-ups:

Adding some fine gold threads ...

And faux stitiching  with stickers.

And one additional Creative Embellisehments piece is the title Let it Snow. This was colored with white paint and then glistened with the Glitter Snow.

Lastly, I added some crinkle seam binding and some gold glitter paint brushed on using the texture brush from 13 Arts.
