Just a Dad ~ Throwback for Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing another throwback layout while I am on hiatus.

I don’t know about you but my Summer has been quite busy so far with no let up in sight for at least a few more weeks.  So, my thinking turned to creating something pretty but with less of the usual mixed media that I am inclined to use.

This is a favorite photo of me and Dad taken many years ago. I had just gotten my first pair of skates and Dad set about teaching me to use them with my Mom close at hand. Sadly, I did take a fall that day and hit my head but oh well, I did finally learn to skate!

I just recently ordered the gorgeous Flourish Border 3 and was itching to use it. Since I chose these earth tones for my papers (13 Arts End of Summer collection), I opted to paint my chipboard with Walnut Stain.  I also used Walnut on my awesome title piece Just a Dad and his Girl. The Walnut provided a great vintage vibe.

While that was drying, I did some random stamping with the Distressed Moroccan Stamp.

I was inspired by an older layout of mine as a sort of sketch and it included lots of circular embellishments. So, I decided to take a couple of the Artist Trading Coins and covered them with some orange papers from the paper collection and tuck them in on both sides of the photo.

Next, I added some of my ephemera, then flowers and followed with some 13 Arts Black Microbeads and lastly twine.

I am so enchanted with this Flourish Border 3 that I already have another one in my stash for that rainy day when I might need it, ha! ha!

Another Design Team member requested this awesome title piece be created and man, am I ever glad that Nicolle obliged! It is perfect for this beloved photo from when I was young. I was and will forever be a Daddy’s girl.

Butterflies, flowers and all done!

Thanks for coming by today!

See you next time!

Another Throwback Friday with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, scrappy friends!
Sandi Clarkson  here with you today sharing an older project of our youngest daughter with her old "Huggy Bear" and our then new golden doodle pup "Georgie."  Georgie has grown a bunch since then but this pic is just too cute not to scrap!
Especially using all the CUTE "fur-friendly" products that Creative Embellishments has to offer ... chipboard, flair and stencil along with a more "everyday" chicken wire stamp.

I love the combination of light blue with brown and yellow as an accent and thought it was a perfect color scheme for my brown toned photo. After choosing my Ivy Wreath and Heart Strings Border, I sprayed them with Walnut Ink .... my most favorite way to alter chipboard usually. While that was drying, I created a design and went to work on my background.

A used the Muddy Paws Stencil and some super heavy gesso to create some texture on my page.
Some mist and stamp work finished off my background.

I adore all the frames that Creative Embellishments has to offer but among them, I have a few faves .. the Ivy Wreath being one of them. It's perfect for any kind of outdoor, earthy or masculine theme project you may have. Note the cool red flair on the upper left.

For vertical interest, I added the now dried Heart Strings Border (love it!) and used it as a photo layer. At the completion of my project, I splattered everything with white gesso to blend.

In this close-up you can see some of the stamp work done with the Distressed Chicken Wire Stamp. This stamp is a must-have for me!

More stamping but also a close-up of one of the 3 cute flairs I used from the Puppy Love Flair set. Of course, you can see that I went a little crazy with flowers but hey, it was fun!

For a title, I decided to use some scrabble type tiles that I had on my desk as well as a phrase from the branding strip.
This photo was mostly about my daughter and her love for her old "Huggy Bear"...  but this is also Georgie's debut, lol!

And lastly, there's another sweet flair poking out near the bottom ...

That's it for today.
We are so glad you came by.

Be sure to check out all the new chipboard pieces that Nicolle has just designed and released in the store! I'm over the moon with the new collage type pieces!

Easel Card with Sandi ~ Creative Embellishments Throwback

Hello, CE friends!

Sandi Clarkson  here with you today sharing another throwback post while I am out taking care of family.

This easel card was created for an October Challenge about 3 years ago. I sure miss those challenges, do you?

I had fun creating a cozy mood board project for Creative Embellishments and thought mostly about what Fall was like to me as a child. I was especially inspired by the linens on the clothesline and the funky, almost steampunk dress form lampshades.

My original intention was to scrap a photo of my parents or myself  but ultimately, I decided on an easel card and used the nostalgic Graphic 45 Portrait of a Lady paper collection. The Large Clock Face 5" reminds me of time gone by while the Moroccan Lattice Panel makes me think of traveling somewhere grand. The Ivy Sprigs represent my need for greenery in my home and in my art.

This was that old the  mood board for October, 2019. and created by myself:

See you next time!
Happy Creating!
