"Traveling the World" layout with 13 Arts

Hello, 13 Arts fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing my January solo creation.

One of the sweet granddaughters had a birthday recently. Her parents are missionaries in Ecuador, so it is more than fitting to use the "Travel the World" collection to scrap this cute photo.

I've added Amber Color Glow to my 13 Arts modeling paste and pushed it through the Map stencil.

For added drama, I used the Tiger Eye Color Glow around my focal areas.

Here are some close-ups for you:

"Jingle Bell Traditions" with Sandi Clarkson ~ Creative Embellishments

 Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today.

For today's project share I have my final Christmas project until later this year.

My daughters and I have a 20 plus year old tradition of getting together to shop for Christmas gifts and enjoy one anothers' company. They laugh that it's all about "the food," the antics and the awesome foot massages we treat ourselves to. With a combination of isolating along with 2 members of the team already having Covid, we were able to do it again this last year .... but in a safe way. No one got sick from this outing. I promise. Also, one of the granddaughters was able to come along.

Our tradition is so engrained in us that we pick our Girls Shopping Day date even before scheduling Thanksgiving and Christmas. We pick a date but we don't even say what time or where! But like magic, we all show up at the same mall, same entrance and at the same time every year.

I happened to take note of the cute Santa Star Sleigh in the CE Store and ordered it. I knew it would be cute for something! When I received it, I knew just how I wanted to use it!

I had fun altering it with my 13 Arts watercolors and some waxes. I filled it with berries and stems from the Poinsettia Set

My papers are older Bo Bunny. I haven't bought Christmas themed paper in years because I will never be able to use all that I have in my stash, LOL!

Next I set about altering my Tall TreesPine Trees and Heritage Words with more of my 13 Arts watercolors and then used wax on the title. Everything got a coating of Aileen's Glitter Snow.

Isn't this just an adorable little piece? There are 2 in a set, in slightly different sizes.

You can see one of my Pine Trees along the right hand side of my photo.

The Tall Trees are on the left of the photo.
They were painted an olive green and then coated with glitter snow.

Here is my awesome title pieces which I painted brown and then covered with gold wax. You can find it in the store right here: Heritage Words

I included this shot to show you a close-up of the stamping and stenciling done with the Distressed Patterns Stencil and the Circle Bokeh Stamp. That Bokeh stamp remains a fave even after my many years with this team.

I finished the layout with a good splattering of watered-down gesso and then, gold mist.

That's about it for me today. I hope some of you are still scrapping your Christmas photos and that this will inspire you a bit!

See you next time!
Sandi

"Let it Snow" layout with Creative Embellishments using MCS sketch

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my first project of 2021.

I haven't been in my craft room for a few weeks now and it sure feels good to be creative again. However, I feel a little bit like I'm learning all over again! Being sick (despite all precautions) with Covid is no joke.

I also wanted to play along with the sketch challenge over at My Creative Scrapbook to kind of get myself kick-started and because it is a great sketch. I'll include it below.

These photo are of one of my granddaughters, MacKenzie. She never wants to get in front of the camera, so I was thrilled when she sent these photos from a photo shoot with her friend. I love how her sweet personality comes across.

Although this project has no mixed media, that actually made for an easier way to jump back into creating when I'm not feeling 1000% yet. Having a sketch to work from, also help set the pace although I did take a few artistic liberties with it.

Just lots of pretty chipboard all painted white to help mimic the snowy scene.

The Let it Snow chipboard title is one of my favorites from the CE store although I don't have much need for it living in Texas. Ha! Kenzie just happened to be in Oklahoma on a snow day. I added a star by taking one layer from my Star Shaker set. I needed it per the sketch, so it was worth sacrificing a shaker set that I can use later in some altered form.

Of course, one of my current favorite pieces in the CE store right now are the Distressed Clocks that Nicolle created at my request. I plan to use them on my more romantic, shabby chic projects.
But they were perfect for adding a little drama to my photos. Then I filled in with my large and small snowflakes: Large Snowflake Set and Chipboard Snowflakes to help frame my photos.

I also decided to use some of the Shine Flair Gold to add another kind of texture and because I have no flowers on my layout. Shock, I know!

Just to give you a little idea of the dimensions I added.

My papers are from 13 Arts Under the Stars collection.

There's my sweet girl ... always smiling and glowing with her love for Jesus.

The sketch called for a border along the top but since I rotated the sketch, it is here on the side.
Here is that sketch:

That's about it from me today! I need to get cracking on getting some things done around the house as I am SOOOO very behind on LITERALLY everything.

See you next time!
Sandi
