The Freaks Come Out ~ Lucy! ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, scrappy friends!

I'm back today to share my nod to Halloween featuring a fun photo of Lucille Ball!

I pulled out some of my much loved (but hoarded) 7 Dots Studios Messy Head papers along with some stickers of their Soulmates collection.

First I created a messy background with my Distressed Circle Stencil and a couple of great CE stamps: Frayed Burlap Stamp and Fishnet Stamp.

Next I painted all my chipboard black. Once they were dry, I hit all of them with some Shimmerz Vibez Hot Fudge to give them more of a rusted look without a lot of effort.

My primary photo chipboard layers consists of the newer Distressed Chevron Border and the Grunge Corner.  The Grunge Corner is placed to the side and slightly on top of the Distressed Chevron Border.  My fun title is the The Freaks Come Out At Night title piece.

A dimensional shot!

See how the Shimmerz accents the black on the chippy?

Don't you just Love Lucy?
I'm not certain if this photo is from a Halloween episode ... or is just a little laundry error but it sure is cute!

I needed another little bit of orange in this corner and was out of matching flowers, so I pulled out an old dimensional sticker and put that bad boy to use!

I included this pic to draw your attention to the stamping with my great CE Stamps!

Yep, that Grunge Corner has a little spike-y piece that sticks out and looks perfect a Halloween them!

I'm sharing all the angels with ya today, lol!
But seriously, just a close-up of that stencil in action.

I hope you have a fun holiday and then have time to scrap your photos!

Be sure and visit the Creative Embellishments Store for some retail therapy.

See you next time!

Shimmerz October Color Challenge!

Hello, Shimmerz Paints fans!
Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my take on the October Color Challenge here at Shimmerz.

I chose to focus on Miner Miner 49er Inklings which is a luscious shade of gold.
In order to really focus on its beauty, I chose to paint a wide swath of it vertically on a greeting card.
Now it served as a great background to do almost anything. I chose to go with leaves and carry out a Fall theme.

Here's another view to give you a better idea how all the colors really shimmer but especially the Miner Miner 49er Inklings. It also really shows the shimmer on the chipboard quote "autumn" which is altered with Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz.

I'm so proud of these gorgeous leaves which are from Creative Embellishments. They are from the Autumn Leaves Set. I altered each of them a different color and then added a bit of each color to every leaf.

On the left is Vibez Quit Yer Wine -n, a gorgeous shade of wine.
The leaf on the right is coated with the new Shimmerz So Sappy. To this one, I added a bit of all the other colors.

Lastly, I splattered some Vibez Quit Yer Wine -n around my focal points.

One last shimmery look at that Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz on my title chipboard.

Thanks for coming by today!

If you are shopping, don't forget to add my name Sandi on your order to receive a few surprise!

See you next time!

Autumn Shaker Card/Tag Set {Creative Embellishments and Shimmerz Paints}

Hey, hey!

Sandi here with you today sharing an Autumn shaker card along with a sweet tag to go with it.
This card is for my sweet sister-in-law who I not only love but who introduced me to scrapbooking many, many years ago!
So, I always try to make her something a little special.

This is actually a shaker card, so I had to work slowly and make sure I didn't make any mistakes.  Haha!
First I prepared the intricate Creative Embellishments Lace Border 1 piece (left side of the card) with some Shimmery Vibez Hot Fudge.
The little hearts on the sweet tag were altered the same way. They are from the CE Heart Frame Set.

The most striking chipboard piece on the project is the Creative Embellishments Viney Flourish Frame. I decided to give it a coat of black gesso and add some shimmery Shimerz colors on top of it: Inklingz Miner Miner 49erSpritz Granny Gray and Vibez Quit Yer Wine-n. When everything was completed, I dabbed it with white gesso.

The little Happy title piece is from the Creative Embellishments Happy Word Set and was also coated with black gesso, then enhanced with Shimmerz So Sappy. It took several coats to achieve the look I was going for.

Just another close-up of that gorgeous CE Viney Flourish Frame. I also added this photo to remind myself to mention that I used the Round Frame from the CE Heart Frame Set to help create my shaker! It was colorized with Shimmerz Vibez Grey Flannel to blend with the background photo since it's a tad smaller in diameter than the CE Viney Flourish Frame. I also had to trim some of the decorative edge  away so that it wouldn't show. The sequins were added before glueing everything together. I used some of the Spigelmom Scraps Sequins Rustic Retreat sequins which were a great match!
Shake, shake, shake!

Another view of that grand Viney Flourish Frame from Creative Embellishments.

The extra hearts pieces in the CE Heart Frame Set were used as layers for my sweet little tag. As mentioned before, they were spritzed with Shimmerz Vibez Hot Fudge.

Thanks for coming by today!

There are still a couple of weeks before the October Challenge at Creative Embellishments comes to an end! We hope that you will play along for a chance to win some free CE goodies!

See you next time!
Sandi

Sweet Pea ~ Creative Embellishments ~

Hello, scrappy friends!
Happy October!

I'm posting today  to share my newest project for Creative Embellishments featuring sweet little granddaughter Clara. Named after my maternal grandmother, she has the funniest, quirky little personality that we just love.

I'm showcasing a few of Nicolle's newest chipboard pieces: Distressed Circle Border,  Distressed Punchinella and the Sweet Pea title piece. Along with those I've added some old favorites: Infinite Circle Frame and the Fishnet Stamp.

The Distressed Circle Border is about 10 inches long and I've used it vertically here and as my base photo layering piece. I used a distress paint technique so that part of the brown chippy shows through. ... And also to differentiate it from the Distressed Punchinella piece (about 7 inches) which I painted completely white and placed on top of the Infinite Circle Frame.  My thought was that something simple like this would not compete with the newer pieces I wanted to highlight.

I love using border and collage-type pieces as photo layering elements! It adds just the right amount of interest and texture.

Here's a closer look at those new chipboard pieces as well as some of the stamp work done with the Fishnet Stamp. You can see the sweet florals, texture, gems and art stones that were added as well. I thought a little paper tearing would be just the right amount interest for this layout. Always a favorite technique of mine.

I added more florals to complement the little sweetie smelling her posey, And as a juxtaposition of her personality, lol! Nicolle has lots of great stamps in the store that are so perfect for adding dimension. The Fishnet Stamp is one of my faves!

Here is the new title piece which I simply painted white to blend with the other items and add softness to he page. A few art stones and a floral were added.

As a finishing touch, a few gems were placed randomly around the focal photo.

We are just a few days into the October Challenge, so we hope that you will find time to play along!

Thanks for coming by!
Sandi

Marci Bensing
Hello!  This is Marci joining you for another monthly challenge! My favorite holiday is HALLOWEEN-who am I kidding?-I LOVE THE CANDY!  I also love seeing the little ones in costumes! Here I helped my 2 grandsons and my niece make Halloween Monster Treats last year.  The Creative Embellishments Products I used are: Mesh panel:  I cut and covered the panel w/Tim Holtz picket fence distress paint, let it dry and then dabbed it with the paint again.  Bootiful Title:  I used Sharpies to color the title black, blue and the white is again, the white distress paint used on the panel.  Then I added Googlie Eyes like the treats we made that day for a little fun on the page! Sure hope you can join in this month!

Another month at Creative Embellishments and the challenge this month was actually more difficult for me. The inspirational photo was awesome but the twist to have multiple photos.
Well, my kids never take good halloween photos. They are always running on to the next house. In the halloween parade or some action shot that turns out all blurry and off centred. So I decided to do a little something different, I actually stole photos off Pinterest, for the first time ever.
October ATC's CE

I started with some base work with the cards with the Distress Harlequin  Stamp and the Distress Chevron Stamp, I used some deep colours.I Used the Halloween stencil and a thick embossing paste to add some spider web background. So fun! I used a couple festive boarder chipboard the tombstone and pumpkin. I used some black chalk paint and then added some subtle colour to them.
Here is a video of how fun and easy some simple background work can pull together a fun festive set of ATC's.

For this month's Creative Embellishments challenge, I was inspired to create this Halloween layout and I used two adorable Nathan pictures for the twist.  My title is from the Happy Halloween Word Set, and I added vines from the Pumpkin Vine Flourish set to the adorable pumpkin Doodle Pops.  I used green Spritz ink and finished off the pieces with glossy accents.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack and Sally Halloween Scrapbook Layout I absolutely love Halloween! I had a lot of fun creating this layout that features my brother and niece dressed up as Jack and Sally from the Tim Burton movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. I was inspired by the birds, bats, text, and overall creepy feel of the inspiration image this month. I included black and white, but I also had to use color. I stamped the striped patterned paper with the Distressed Circle Stamp and the Distressed Text Stamp. Next, I added the Haunted House 2 and two small bats from the Halloween Scene 2 to the top of the page. Then, I used Tattered Angels Black Magic Glimmer Mist to color these chipboard pieces. The gold shimmer is fantastic! I used words from the Halloween Hashtags set for the title, which I colored with Tattered Angels Pomegranate Glimmer Mist. I'd love to have you stop by my blog for more details and closeup photos of this layout.

For the two photo twist….I just printed the photo twice and fussy cut the crow and used pop up to adhere him to t he bottom photo. Have fun playing along and I cant wait to see what you make!!!!!!!!
