Birthday Cards for Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
Today I'm sharing a couple of shabby chic-inspired DL sized birthday cards with you.
Just a few chippy pieces and pretty papers is all you need.

I started with my card bases and then chose some pretty papers to pull my compositor together. My papers and mediums are all by 13 Arts.

Here is card #1 which always seems to take longer than card #2 because I spend my planing time up front.

For this card, I've used one of the  Ornate Portrait Frame 2 which is painted white as well as both the Moroccan Lattice Panel and the Pussy Willow which are inked and cut into pieces for random tucking here and there.

Here is a better view of the Ornate Frame. I've also used some metallic wax randomly on a couple of the chippy pieces.

And here is the second card which os sort of a reverse mirror image using different elements.

The CE Clock Faces are one of my all-time favorites in the store. It comes in several sizes and I try to always keep some in my scrappy stash.
This is painted white and has metallic accents.

Again I've used another piece of the Moroccan Panel for an extra layer.
I finished with some florals and die cut along with a few paint splatters.

End of Summer Coasters ~ 13 Arts group post

Hello. 13 Arts fans!

Sandi here with you today sharing some coasters that I created for the 13 Arts group post featuring the new End of Summer collection.

Here they are stacked together.

I still must go to the hardware store to add some moleskin to the bottom of each coaster so they won't scratch my furniture.

I painted my 4x4 tiles with white gesso. These come in bundles from the big box hardware store. I think they are actually samples or remnants to use if you run out of them when doing a larger project.

When that was dry, I began adhering my End of Summer Rice paper with Gel Medium.

After that was good and dry, I coated the top with another layer of Gel Medium to protect my Rice paper from heat or cold.

And here are all 4 of them, each made with a different section of the rice paper.

Love them!

Bella ~ 13 Arts

Happy Saturday, friends!

Today over on the 13 Arts Blog we are featuring the new Bella collection.
A few of the Design Team members are sharing projects they have created with this gorgeous range!

I decided to go with the Olive Gardens, Bella paper as my main base layer.
As a distressing technique, I did some paper burning along a few of the edges. I have a couple of hard, fast rules that I always abide by: 1.) I do this over the kitchen sink with the water running and 2. I always wait until there is another family member in the house. Just seems prudent.

Next, I layered that paper over Damaged, Grungy Walls paper and applied clear gesso over my papers. I did some stamping with the Bella stamp as well as some stenciling with the Bella, Semper Stencil.

My photo is of a family friend and photo credit goes to @_sabrina_ruiz.

For my focal layers, I've used strips from the Bella Foil Transparency and papers from the 2 smaller paper pads noted below.  I included some ephemera from the Bella Ephemera Pack. Also just for fun, I've used one of the new stickers from the Bella Stickers, A4 and a decorative clip from Decorative paper Clips, 4 pcs

My title cihpboard is from the Bella 6x6 Chipboard Set and is coated with black paint and Old Gold Glitter ink

The black medallion that you see tucked under the cactus is also from that same chipboard set.
For texture and to help soften the page, I've added some old Petaloo florals from my stash.

I emphasized the focal area as well as the stenciling with Pastel Cinnamon mist applied with a watercolor brush.

I almost forgot to show the stenciling I did with the Semper stencil.

To complete my layout, I added some sisal, grit and white gesso splatters.

That's it for me today.
I hope you will hop over to the 13 Arts Blog for more inspiration.

Fall Cards for Creative Embellishments

Hello,  Creative Embellishments fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing a couple of slimline cards.
When I can't decide what to create, I default to cards because they are the one thing that will actually get used around here. I love being prepared for any occasion.

I've used some older papers from Blue Fern Studios, Amber and Apricot.
Even though the temperature is 106 degrees outside, my thoughts are staring to turn to Fall.
Usually, I cling to Summer because although I love Fall, I am not a fan of Winter.
So, Spring and Summer keep me far from the frigid temps. LOL

This was actually the second card I created and I wasn't sure how it would turn out. However, I must say that I love the outcome. I've used the Branch and Leaves chippys which I altered with my 13 Arts water inks and watercolors.  I then splashed them with some gold mist.

For a sentiment, I chose the Thanks from the Autumn Sentiments.

Here's a close look at those awesome leaves.

For this card I went with the Acorn Clusters chippy which is a big fave of mine. Actually, Creative Embellishments has a nice selection of cluster type chipboard which make extra nice adornments for your projects. This chippy was altered the same as above.

This time I chose the Blessings sentiment from the Autumn Sentiments.

And here is a close-up of these chippys.

Now I am all set for a Thank you card and one more generic card that can suit many different occasions.

Thanks for coming by the blog today.
We always appreciate your support.

13 Arts September Challenge

Hello, scrappy friends.

September is a busy month for many of us but I sure hope you can find time to play along with the 13 Arts September Challenge. I've included the Mood Board image here in my post and wow, is it ever a good one! I could use it over and over.

For my take on the Challenge, I went with the beautiful sunrise/sunset colors and glowing lights along with the circular theme in the challenge photos. I was originally going to use a family photo but ultimately decided on this wonderful stock photo for its gorgeous coordinating colors.

Here is that amazing Challenge image:

You can find the Challenge over on the 13 Arts Blog, published September 1.
Isn't it wonderful?

I've used lots of 13 Arts mixed media products which are listed below. I especially enjoyed playing around with 3 of the COLOR GLOW products which have a wonderful metallic sheen. They are powders that you can mix with water or other medium and use as desired.

Here are a few close-ups:

So much mixed media fun!

Creative Embellishments September Challenge

Welcome to September, everyone!
Today I'm sharing my take on the Challenge photo which depicts varying degrees of urban decay. I chose a photo by Bryon P. Davis who spent 6 years photographing deserted buildings and other forms of urban abandonment. Some of it is very haunting.

The twist this time is to use "Rust" on your project. The various Creative Embellishments  pieces I've used are: Door 2, customMoroccan Lattice Panel, Large Clock Face 5", Keys, Japanese Tea SetLife Documented, and Vintage Lantern.  Also the Distressed Moroccan Stamp.

Here are a few close-ups:

I hope you will have a chance to play along.
