My 3rd December Blue Fern Studios project ..

"Merry"

Here I am again using the Vintage Christmas collection. I've tried to photograph this layout multiple times and cannot seem to capture it's true appearance. IRL, it is so sparkly and pretty!
The background was treated with gesso and Imagine Ink in Winter Mint.
This LO is based on the December sketch and is of one of my grandsons with a great-granddad, so sweet.

The Holiday Frame was misted with our Leaf mist and then blinged up with our Lucky embossing Powder! The shine is gorgeous! I've tucked in some fussy cut flowers.

The Wood Ornament was treated with Petal and Poinsettia embossing Powders. A bow and flower finish it off!
I used one of the Halftone Stamps around the outer edge of my layout for depth and interest.

I added some personal touches with cheesecloth, peals and flair.

Mixing it up ~ Sandi's December Projects!

Hello, Blue Fern visitors!
Sandi here with you today sharing 2 of my December projects.
It's so hard to grasp that 2015 is almost over!

"Memories"

First up is a layout using the Vintage Christmas collection. I used a variety of papers as listed below and then built my background with super heavy gesso, a stencil and Imagine Ink mists in Persimmon, Cotton Candy and Leaf.

My Clip Frame was treated with Cotton Candy mist and then heat embossed using both Petal and Poinsettia. The Berry Stem on the left was misted with Imagine Ink in Leaf and variegated with a random ink pad. The Blooming Foliage peeking from beneath the photo was treated the same. A few microbeads were added to both for more texture.

The Garden Lattice Bits were misted with Cotton Candy and then randomly embossed with Petal and Poinsettia.  You can also see I've used a snippet of the Blooming Foliage tucked into my cluster.

"Dream"

I love scrapping with purple! And since I haven't had a lot of opportunity to use the DejaVu collection yet, I took this time to do so.
(Love this early ingenue photo of Lucille Ball, 1930s. Photo credit to Tumblr, original photographer unknown.)

The spectacular Circle Vine Frame seemed the perfect choice to add a little drama to my layout. It was coated with gesso, then misted with Imagine Ink in Jingle Bells. I did a little random embossing with a clear powder and then added in some purple with one of my gelatos.

The Framington Medley was treated the same and used as a background layer. To emphasize my photo, I used color around the Circle Vine Frame and mixed in some microbeads as well.

You can see some of my stamping in the background using the Garden Frolic stamp.

I used more of the gelato color to create an ombre look on my Dream title. I finished the page with some random paint splattering.

Paper:
DejaVu Lustre
DejaVu Tresors
DejaVu La Plume

Chipboard:
Framington Medley
Circle Vine Frame
Wish, Wonder, Dream

I'll be back to share #3 in a few days!

Merry Christmas to all of you!

My Creative Scrapbook December Kit Reveal, part #2

More of the My Creative Scrapbook Reveal …

As mentioned before, I am back designing with the December Limited Edition Kit.

This Kit features the gorgeous Prima Victorian Christmas by Frank Garcia, Blue Fern Studios Vintage Christmas and smidges of other papers such as Authentique. The Kit includes 3 packages of Victorian Christmas flowers as well as the coordinating chipboard and sequins! And there is even some Prima Bloom Spray, yay! Four kinds of trim, brads by Echo Park, alphas  ... Pam's Christmas Kit's are always over the top!

So, here is another project using this beautiful vintage style Kit. Photo is of DGD Peyton.
Again, I've used the shirt sprtiz method with the Color Bloom mister, as well as blended with white  gesso. I mixed a plethora of patterned paper, chipboard and flowers to create my design. And lots of yummy Prima flowers!

And project #4 … using Blue Fern Studios Vintage Christmas as my base.

This one didn't turn out quite as I imagined but my goal was to showcase the parts of the Kit that I hadn't used yet .. so lots of layering in some fun designs and chipboard. (Also, it has been raining here for days on end and photo taking is hard.) Stenciling and  microbeads round out the design. The photo is of my wooden Santa that I picked up a Harvest Festival and put out every year for the holidays.

So, that's it for my My Creative Scrapbook December Reveal. I had forgotten how much fun doing a Kit can be!

My Creative Scrapbook December LE Kit ~ Reveal, part #1

Hello, everyone!
It's Reveal Day over at My Creative Scrapbook Kit Club
Today we are showcasing the December Kits.

After a bit of a break, I am back designing with the December Limited Edition Kit.

Here is the first project that I'm going to share featuring a photo of DGD MacKayla. I got a little carried away with my mists on this one but was totally in love with the finished product.

Here are some close-ups:

I tucked in some gold threads from my stash. See the cute gold, metal envelope? It actually opens!

Next is my signature "Lucy" project for the month.
I could not locate the original photographer of this photo but do know that it is an 1920's ingenue shot, so getting very close to being vintage.
I wanted to go with the damask red as my backdrop and add some patterned paper in the center. There is some spritzing with the Color Bloom spray using a "short burst" method but it is kind of hard to see. It created interesting little droplets here and there. I've also done a bit of stenciling which peeks out here and there. Some fussy cutting, layering and then the addition of some embellishments. Loved using the beading to encircle my photo.

And here are some close-ups;

Microbeads (red) are also from my stash.

And here is the LE Kit photo:

That's it for today!
I'll be back in a couple of days and share two more projects created with this Kit. And … I still have paper left over and a few embellies … certainly enough for a few cards ..

Thanks for coming by!
Please visit the Design Team Gallery to see what the other designers have done.

Blue Fern Studios .. on repeat ~

"Wish"

This one you have already seen when we first introduced the Christmas Vintage collection.
The Noel paper was treated with clear gesso and then super heavy gesso with a stencil. Imagine Ink in "Winter Mist" was misted and spread with water to enhance the stenciling. The "Carribean" glitter was then scattered over the background paper for lots of shine.

The chipboard pieces were all primed with gesso and then coated with the Imagine Ink in "Winter Mint" ( Snow Medley), "Leaf" (Eclectic Hearts), "Jingle Bells" (Garden Window) and "Cotton Candy" plus "Persimmon" (Wish, Wonder, Dream).  The Snow Medley piece was enhanced with "Fern" embossing powder, the Wish with "Poinsettia" embossing powder and the Eclectic Hearts with "Lucky" embossing powder. The Garden Window was misted with "Jingle Bells," then dusted with "Pyrite" glitter.

Paper layers were cut and placed behind the Window. Flowers and bling were added as a final touch.

Two New Collections!

Blue Fern Studios has done it again!
We have two new collections debuting soon.

Here are some first peeks:

This is Blush, designed by Michele Singh. It will be our Valentine-inspired collection.

And here is Timeless by Manuela Zimmerman. I am really loving the moody, dramatic look of this one which we reminds me a bit of Sanctuary.

I will be back to share the entire collection once it has posted on the BFS blog.

Thanks for popping by!
