"Queen of the Night" Mixed Media Steampunk Layout ~ 13 Arts

 Happy Wednesday, friends!

I'm excited to share my first 13 Arts Design Team project featuring the new "Queen of the Night" and "Industrial Zone" along with our older Goldenstone Color Glow as well as basic mixed media products by 13 Arts.

It was SO fun to play after taking a short break from the craft room for family time.

I decided to go with a Steampunk sort of vibe by adding some elements from the Industrial Zone ephemera to the basic Queen of the Night papers, stamp and ephemera. The new stencil used is from Rose in Love. I always love a good text stencil. Stamping was done with the Queen of the Night stamp set.

After figuring out my basic design, I did some paper tearing and added in some paper and cardboard layers under my photo. Because the ephemera contained so many roses, I didn't feel the need for any 3 dimensional ones.

After popping all my elements, I added color with the Goldenstone Color Glow by Marta Debicka for 13 Arts. It gave me a quick Rust Effect without actually doing any rust technique.

For texture and drama. I've added sisal, art stones, brown microspheres and copper flower flitter all by 13 Arts.

Here are some close-ups to enjoy:

And here is a graphic showing most of 13 Arts products used except for gel medium.

Thanks for coming by today!
See you next time.

Lovely Memories Canvas ~ 13 Arts Design Team

Hello, creative friends!
Thanks for stopping by today.

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing a yummy canvas board created for 13 Arts Design Team.

I started by choosing a photo that would inspire as does the vintage gypsy photo that I've scrapped before. Next I choose die cuts and went with the yummy Fall tones of the End of Summer collection! Such a wonderful older collection with fabulous ephemera.

I began then with a canvas where I had already applied my custom crackle paste created with 13 Arts modeling paste and 13 Arts texture powder. The trick is to let it air dry for about 24 hours before altering. I also make the paste quite fluffy.

Next I began creating an ombre effect of sorts by painting with 3 mists and one ink from 13 Arts: Yellow Amber, Pearl Gold, Brown water ink and then lastly, the Patina Bronze.

Next I created some custom waxes and custom sprays (well, actually puddles of medium) with 3 of the Color Glows: Amber, Goldstone and Golden Calcite! Oh my! That really adds the shimmer and shine. Adding the Color Glow to a decoupage wax allows you to use it for the highlights like any other wax. The Goldstone has a glitter effect to it that is amazing! Some of this was brushed on with a stiff brush and for some areas, I used my fingers. For the splattering, I used a flicking paint brush.

The splattering and highlighting around the focal area was created using the Amber Color Glow and water.

Beneath my photo area, I added some ecru sisal for a bit of texture and then began adding florals, and my photo mounted on cardboard. My florals are all older Petaloo from my stash.

The ephemera was tucked here and there around the focal area as well as used to create a balanced area in the lower corner for my title.

The final touch was adding my gold 13 Arts microbeads here and there. I wanted to add my hexagon hologram glitter but I was a bit afraid that it might compete with the beads. So, next time maybe?

For additional texture, I did add metal clock from the 13 Arts adornments and added a Tim Holtz clock hand on top of that.

Here are the 13 Arts products used for achieving my colors.
Also used was modeling paste, texture powder and gel medium.

Thanks for dropping by today.
Blogs are becoming somewhat archaic but I like having this written history in the event that the apps we currently heavily rely on go away.

See you next time!
