"Sparkly Christmas Love" ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, scrappy friends!
Wow, it's nearly the end of 2018. I can hardly believe it!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my last Creative Embellishments project for this year but I'll be back on January 1st with my first challenge project for the new year!

As many of you know, I have lots of grandchildren .. so plenty of photos to scrap and then give away! That's my storage solution: I let them worry with where to store them. Anyway, two of my older granddaughters started asking for layouts for their birthday and Christmas gifts.
It's always so fun to see their reaction when they open them. Of course, I have to snap a photo of their sweet smiles. I was due to create one for this sweet gal and ironically, the photo I chose is of my first DT project for this particular term here at Creative Embellishments. She loved that one and I hope she likes this one as well!

So, on to the project!

I had just received some new Christmas papers and embellishments in one of my Kits and wanted to use them. After choosing those design items, I turned to my Creative Embellishments products to see what I wanted to use this time.

Foremost, I wanted to finally use the Ribbon Garland that I've been hoarding for a few YEARS! Yes, really. As usual, the piece was several colors before all was said and done. Finally, I settled on the green and added some pearl drops and hard rock crackle. The garland drops down on both sides of the photo but the right is buried in florals.

I adore all the Creative Embellishment frames but this Time Flies Frame Set is a true fave. And one that I actually always remember the name of without looking.  For my purposes here, I left it bare to look as if my "package" were wrapped in khaki paper. I had to fiddle with it a bit to line it up with my garland and photo but got it done!

This Family Banners chipboard piece is aMAziNg! I simply sprayed it with walnut ink and it was ready when dry.

Just another close-up of the Time Flies Frame Set. Adore these!

Creative Embellishments makes the BEST stamps! Here are a couple of them in action: Distressed Text Stamp and Distressed Chevron Stamp.

And a final dimensional view.

Thanks so much for coming by today!
See you again in a few days!
Have a Happy and Safe New Years!

Altered Paint Brush with Sandi ~ Shimmerz Paints

Hello, scrappy friends!
Are you ready for Christmas? I'm getting there but whew, it's a little crazy around here!

I'm up today with a fun, Altered Paint Brush project!
I've been wanting to do another one and so, asked the hubby a few weeks back if he had an old, used one in the garage. Sure enough he did and here is the transformation!
So pleased with how it turned out!

Since it was in such bad shape, I added a layer of white gesso and allowed that to dry. Then I covered the entire paint brush with Inklingz-Miner-Miner-49er. The project required several coats but was sure worth it!

I wanted to have an almost "chipped paint" look, so after the Inklingz-Miner-Miner-49er dried, I added some Coloringz-Scarletts-Fever to the side and on the bristles of the brush. I went with red because I found this scrap of red pattern paper from years ago and really love it! I think it was BoBunny but I'm not really sure.

After choosing a couple of Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces, I primed them and gave them color with my Vibez-Snow-Way-Man. After they were glued to the brush, I coated them with some Diamond Dust. The chipboard was further embellished with floral and pearls.

I felt that the bristles needed a little more emphasis, so I added some Vibez-Glorious-Day to create a little more sparkle!

Lastly, I added a little narrow blue ribbon and considered it done!
I'm loving the Creative Embellishment new Artist Trading Coins and finding so many ways to use them!

Here are the Shimmer products utilized and there is a product list below.

Thanks for coming by today!

Merry Christmas ~ {Creative Embellishments and Shimmerz Paints}

Hello, scrappy friends!
It's Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing a new Design Team layout created using Creative Embellishments and Shimmerz Paints

This adorable photo is of my cousin's grandson taken a few years ago. She reminded me of it a couple of months ago, so I put it on to-do list for this time of year.

I wish the photos could do justice to just how pretty and shimmery this layout is truly is.
My background papers are some older Graphic 45 Christmas papers that went well with my sweet photo.

My background was prepared with clear gesso and then I added some super heavy gesso pushed through the CE Falling Stars Stencil. The colorizing around the photo cluster was done later with my Shimmerz Vibez Rolling in the Hay. It's a darker, more vintage gold than Vibez Glorious Day. It really adds just the right amount of oomph to my cluster.

I had just received the CE Tall Trees chipboard in the mail and thought they would be perfect for this project! I altered them with Shimmerz Green Olive original paint and then lightly sprayed them with Vibez Palm Reader for a little more glimmer. Later I went back and splattered everything with Vibez Snow Storm which gave a snowy look to the entire page  .. even better than gesso. As you can see see, I also added some art stones here and there.

Here you can also see some of the CE Falling Stars Stencil work as well as my random stamping with the CE Circle Bokeh Stamp.

I wanted to frame my photo with more than just cardstock, so I used one of the Creative Embellishments Mint Box Flourish Frame Set 2 and altered it the same way as the chipboard trees for a cohesive look. It was placed underneath the photo so that I wouldn't lose any photo details.
Just to add a little bling, I added some green flat back pearls to the frame and to the trees.

Another sweet little snowy tree and more stamp work.  You can also barely see the end of the CE Wavy Music Note Border which I altered with Walnut stain. I thought it made a great little "road" for my sweet fella driving his Christmas tree home.

Here is the lefthand portion of the CE Wavy Music Note Border. Also you will note lots of the added art stones which were first sprayed with my Vibez Glorious Day. Later, I decided to spray them with my Vibez Snow Storm instead to make them white like snow. However, the gold edges still show and make them glisten a bit more which I like.

I finished the layout with a very old Petaloo vine that I had on hand. I updated it by spraying the flowers with my Vibez Glorious Day. Because I'm trying to use up my old Christmas stash, I added a few 3-D candies and some old buttons. Why, oh why do I have so much Christmas paper?

Thanks for coming by today!

Creative Embellishments December Challenge!

Hello, scrappy friends!
Can you even believe that this is the first day of December?
Seriously, where has this year gone?

I'm back today with my DT take on our December Challenge over at Creative Embellishments
I thought I'd jump at the chance to make a sweet Christmas themed card and tag set.
The twist on the challenge this month is to add an animal to your project!!!

So, here is my lovely little set created with an older Graphic 45 collection. I decided that the dark red script paper would be wonderful as a background for the Jumping Deer that I wanted to use!

All my chipboard pieces were stained with Walnut Ink and then lightly and randomly embossed with aged gold embossing powder, The title pice was left bare.

Here are some close-ups for you:

That Circle Vine Frame is a fave of mine! Here it helps bring focus to the reindeer.
The Christmas Sentiments was left bare.

I love creating tags by using several layers and then really decking out the top layer.

Thanks for coming by today!
I hope you'll visit the Creative Embellishments
blog and see the other Design Team examples.
Hopefully, you can join in!

Lucy ~ Do The Things You Think You Cannot Do ~ with Sandi

Hello, scrappy friends!
Sandi here with you today sharing my latest layout for Creative Embellishments

This layout featuring a vintage photo of Lucille Ball perched on a suitcase has been occupying my head space for wayyyy too long! I'm so glad that I finally got around to creating it.

I wanted to stay true to the vintage/travel theme, so chose some vintage colors and chipboard pieces that I thought conveyed "travel or going on a journey."

My background was created with super heavy gesso pushed through the CE Distressed Patterns Stencil and then randomly stamped using the CE Distressed Chicken Wire Stamp and the Distressed Text Stamp. For color, I've used the Shimmerz products listed below.

My chipboard pieces were all altered with black paint and then topped with the Shimmerz Hot Vibez which gives the pieces a coppery hue. My main photo cluster resides beside the Stamp Corner piece and above the Do The Things Quote title piece. For interest, I've added the Round Distressed Stamps off to the side and the wee little Paper Clips attached to the photo. Love the Paper clip pieces!

I finished by adding my florals and with addition highlights of color.

One last dimensional view~

Don't forget that our November challenge ends on the 30th this month.
Hope you found time to play along!

Thanks for coming by!
See you next time.

Quick, Fun Christmas tags with Sandi ~ Shimmerz Paints

 Hello, scrappy friends!

Sandi here today sharing some quick, fun Christmas tags to use on those Christmas gifts you're busy wrapping!

Although my own Christmas colors are neutral white, creams and copper, I decided to let the Sugar Plum Fairies dance in my head for a few minutes and produce me some sweet, sugar-y colors!

So, I chose Vibez Forget Me NotVibez Snow Way Man and Vibez Pop Art Pink for my base colors and Paste Eez Salt of the Earth for my background texture.

Using ordinary office tags, I had me a little "play" in the craft room!

I started by swiping the tags with clear gesso and then adding my Paste Eez Salt of the Earth through
a stencil.

While that was drying, I chose and painted a bunch of Christmas chipboard pieces from Creative Embellishments with white acrylic paint. For a flocked and textured effect, I added some glitter snow to the trees. (Chipboard pieces listed below.)

Next, I went back to my tags and applied the colors with a paintbrush.

Above is a close-up of the Vibez Forget Me Not. Look at that shimmer!~

Here is the sweet Vibez Pop Art Pink one! This is a really pretty baby pink!

The last thing I did was add the ribbons and splattered some white paint over the tags for a snowy, uniform look.

I've been looking for a chance to use my Vibez Snow Way Man blue. It is so gorgeous. Depending on the intensity that you desire, you can of course, water this down for a lighter touch.

Doing these little tags is also a great to get familiar with the colors you have on hand before trying them a special project!

So, now I'm all set with at least 3 tags for my Christmas presents!
You can be too by shopping the Shimmerz Paints Store for the colors you need.
Don't forget to use my name SANDI for a little free gift with order!
See you next time!

More than Words November Guest Designer

I'm so excited!
.... Excited to share that a few of us at Creative Embellishments are Guest Designing over at
More than Words Challenge Blog this month.

Their challenge for November is all about the word "FUTURE" .. and for the creative aspect we were asked to use "STARS" on our project.

Here is my sample:

One of the most immediate events in my FUTURE are the upcoming holidays. As a grandmother, I especially enjoy seeing things through my grandchildren's eyes. I always wonder which traditions will be passed down through the generations ... and what new ones may come along. The inspiration word Future prompted me to scrap this photo of my sweet little grandson who hopefully will someday be a Santa to his own little family.  My STAR shapes are evident in both the stenciled background, multiple chipboard star shapes and the Flair.

I started with a clear gesso base and then added texture using the Falling Stars Stencil and super heavy gesso pushed through it.
Next I built up my photo cluster and then set preparing my chipboard.
In this photo you can also see the Falling Stars Border section that I've altered and embossed red/gold.

The Christmas Sentiments word set gave me some options for my title but I stuck with "Bright Lights "to carry on the theme.  To enhance the stencil work, there was lots of layering of Shimmerz color.
You can see some of my background stamping here with the Crackle Stamp and the Grunge Music Note Border Stamp

Another section of the Falling Stars Border and also a fussy cut Saint Nick.
And glory be, I found some very old poinsettias that were perfect fort this page!

The Spiral Tree chipboard is really the star of the show on this layout and really helps ground my photo. It was inked in green and then I embossed the Star ornaments on it ... yes, it has stars as well!
At the top of the tree, I placed a Star Flair from the Shine Flair Gold set.

Just a little view from the side.

I used lots of gold microbeads to bring out the gold of Christmas.

My little subtitle is "Santa in Training."

Thanks for coming by!
Hope you have time to play along with More than Words Challenge Blog
