Main kit, EAO, FAO
Here's a quick layout of dgd Marianne done with those yummy Prima papers from the kit!! This was actually the last page that I created using "Tip Toe Through Fall" so I was using up the leftovers. Some "random" and some "on purpose" punching and a bit of layering is all that I really did. I did use a ton of Gesso on my Petaloo blooms to match the papers a bit better and for that white-washed look that I love. Of course, I added in some of the white Petaloo flowers along with some Prima embellies and the alphas from the kit. I finally got to experiment with my Bitty Blossoms Die and can't wait to do more!   You can also spot the use of the pearls from the kit as well as one Prima resin from my personal stash.

You may notice that I've done NO distressing on my pages this time. We have our home on the market for sale and I've not wanted to do anything that would get it dirty or dusty. My scrappy results are less than stellar but they will have to do this time around. Once we are settled in our new home, I'll let the dust fly!!! LOL

Main kit, FAO, EAO

Next up is a series of the same photo of cutie-pie dgs Elias. Such a sweet face! I did let the Gesso fly a bit on this one and that was kind of fun! I've used the wooden Kaisercraft flower beneath my floral cluster on the bottom right for a fun look. More florals, some embellies from the EAO and I was done. Sounds simple enough although it did take a bit of time to get it just right.

Main kit, FAO, EAO

This layout was created using the awesome sketch by DT member Amarylis Doria. I've used a doily from my personal stash, did a bit of punch work and the rest is a swath of flowers per the sketch. More than even I would normally use in one spot. But I like it! I am also loving the Prima bottle cap embellies from the EAO. These sweet photos are dgd Peyton.

Main kit, FAO, EAO

I tried a new hexagon mask and Glimmer Mist on this one, so I did have to go outside to do this one. Most of my scrappy supplies are packed up (which is painful, I'm telling ya!) but I managed to snag this mask out of the box it came in. Don't you love it? Then I did some fussy cutting, layered on the flowers and created one small peekaboo. Lastly, I added some journaling per the original sketch designed by yours truly for Stuck on U Sketches.  The peach ribbon from the kit is so lush!

I love the leaves that Kate always includes in the kit .. makes the florals so unique!

Well, I know that you are in a hurry to finish the Hop, so I'll close with my

My Secret Word: collection!

Your next stop on the Hop is:

Have a great weekend! Thanks for coming by!

Scrap That! Shoe tutorial

Hi, there, scrappers! I am  posting today with a quick tutorial on how I made this cute little shoe using the Scrap That! September kit featuring Graphic 45's Ladies Diary collection.

Just another photo of the original shoe!

My team mates at Scrap That! talked me in to doing this tutorial although I had another planned and ready.  Therefore the papers are different on the second shoe I put together.

I've been wanting to make a shoe for a while now and have been collecting shoe templates along the way. The one I've used for this cute little number is found at Ellen Hutson's online store for a mere $2.00.  I later found it for free but felt that the artist deserved to be paid for her template, wouldn't you agree?

This is the pattern for the lining of the shoe.

First, you cut your pattern out after tracing it on card stock for a permanent pattern.

Next, select a couple of co-ordinating papers.

Then, trace your pattern on your designer paper using repositional tape to hold it in place.

After you've traced it, you'll begin cutting it out.  Be sure to leave your pattern on your designer paper until after you have begun scoring on the fold lines.

I did find that fussy cutting scissors helped to get in the corners.

I used a bone folder to make my creases nice and sharp. Accuracy is paramount! Once you have your folds done, you can remove your template.

Here is the liner after it has been cut and scored.

Next, I began folding and scoring the shoe itself.

Then you'll want to lift the instep so that you can put the heel together first.

Just checking the fit.

Using Tacky tape you can secure the heel before moving on.

I placed my liner in the shoe .. temporarily .. before I actually taped the toe of the shoe.  Once the toe was secured, I re-placed the liner in the shoe.

Here is the shoe before it was embellished.

Lastly, just embellish to your heart's content.

Now, wasn't that easy? Why don't you give it a try?

Card Day at SOUS ..

Oh, I love our Card sketch reveal day at Stuck on U Sketches! I have never been much of a card maker until recently and now I am seriously addicted to making them! Fortunately, I have a big family and I'm always needing one!

Today's original sketch was done by my lovely friend and co-leader, Leah Schaeffer! Thanks, sweeetie, this is such a great one! I know I will be reaching for it again and again! Perfect for using up those scraps you have left over from a layout!

This card was done using some papers that I just HAD to buy from Recollections called Rooster Provincial. I thought I was over my "all things Rooster" phase but I guess I am not. I bought this stack thinking it would be great for scrapping family recipes but it is seriously some awesome paper!

Let me share a few close-ups.

Here you can see my Manor House bloom, my crinkle ribbon, button and jute bow, as well as a stick pin from my stash.

My sentiment is a Heartfelt Creations stamp stamped on one of the die cuts from the stack.

I almost never use brads but it was the perfect embellie for the lower banner.

And here's the inside of the card .. just a series of banner strips. Don't you love the pre-printed chicken wire paper?!!

Before I let you go, I am re-sharing a card I did for the last Scrap That! reveal. At the time, I could not mention that it was designed using this same sketch! Told you I'll be using this sketch over and over ...

I hope you will hop on over to Stuck on U Sketches and see what the rest of the Card sketch DT did this week. Also, we have special Guest Designer Frank Garcia with us once again. Please visit him at Haus of W

Can't wait to see what YOU do with the sketch this time! You have 2 weeks to upload your project Stuck on U Sketches. Have a great rest of the week!

Bless ~ SOUS Original Sketch

Happy Friday, everyone! My favorite day of the week!

Today I'm sharing the layout I did based on an original for SOUS sketch done by yours truly. I've provided the sketch at the bottom of this post but I hope that you will visit Stuck on U Sketches and see how creative the rest of the DT was!! So proud of them!

You know that circles are all the rage right now, so I really wanted to try my hand at doing a sketch and a layout using a bunch of them! It's not quite as easy as it looks though. You do have to get your sizes and papers just right!

The photo is one that my hubby took of me when we were in Santa Fe in June. I'm posing with a statue of St Francis of Assisi that was right outside our little private courtyard. You can see the birdbath and birds in the photo below and the reason that I've included some on my page!

My papers are some very old Basic Grey Marrakech papers that were given to me by a friend quite a while ago. I had almost forgotten about them but  thought they were perfect for the Southwest flair of Sante Fe. Below you can see that  I've used my Cherish PAP on the light turquoise paper and then mounted that on orange card stock from the collection.

Next I dug out my Creative Memories circle maker because my Cricut is all packed up. That was kind of fun actually! Then I embossed and sanded a few of my circles for more texture.

I made a little doily flower that I will be presenting a tutorial on next month, so stay tuned! I've also made some small rosettes using Sandi Smith's tutorial HERE. Mine are not quite as good as hers because I was still perfecting my skills. Once I learned how to get the bud really tight, I had trouble letting it spring loose like it actually needs to be .. pride got in my way! LOL But I've adjusted my attitude and am letting them uncurl more now. I also got the Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms Die and am loving it! Sure I have PC Flower Shoppe .. but I have more fun with my Dies!

Here is the lower corner with my Thickers for my title, more roses and one little butterfly. I've used a generous amount of Gesso on all my flowers and on some of my circles for a slight white-washed look.

Next I added some pearls and my Prima resin birdbath and birds.

Lastly, I just wanted to show the bit of stamping that I did on the upper corner with my chicken wire stamp .. very subtle.

As promised, here is a copy of the sketch! I hope you will get an opportunity to use it and try something a little out of your comfort zone. Or maybe you are a pro at them .. either way we love to have your link up with us Stuck on U!

Thanks for coming by! Have a great weekend!

2nd Scrap That! Layout with details ..

I'm back today with what has proven to hit home with a few ladies who liked the pairing of the Ladies Diary female image with  the photo of my dgd's horse. I thought it was kind of fitting and fun to do!

After choosing my papers and using my MS punch around the page, I whitewashed my background with Gesso to really make the images pop. Then I fussy cut my lady along with a multitude of the florals from another sheet.

Afterwards I got busy altering my Dusty Attic wrought iron piece. It started with red, then peach, then Rustic Glimmer Glam. It looks great IRL although it still looks a bit red in the photo. It's intended to  match the colors in the ladies skirt.

I layered a few papers behind my photo, as well as  one of the gorgeous paper doilies from the kit and then framed it with some of the bling that Kate included.  I also used the Prima flower but took the dangles off and used them on another page.

I enjoyed using those really great pearls from the kit .. always love using pearls more than rhinestones.

Here's a close-up of the feathers I added to my ladies hat along with a small Prima flower.

Just another close-up of the Dusty Attic piece along with some Prima roses that I added to it.

I think that's it for this one! Hope you have a great weekend!

Sept 5th Card Challenge ~ Stuck on U Sketches

Happy Hump Day, everyone! Today marks another Card Challenge Reveal Day over at Stuck on U Sketches. We are ecstatic this month to have a very special Guest Designer, none other than my scrappy friend, Frank Garcia. Please visit his blog at Haus of W and see the awesome projects he has created!  You won't be sorry!

Today's sketch was designed by yours truly ... and leaves room for all kinds of possibilities. So, I hope that you will have an opportunity to play along with our challenge this time. This is really an easy, peasy sketch!

I was itching to do an easel card, so I turned the sketch horizontally and went from there!

My papers are the yummy Glitz Cashmere Dame along with some solid red card stock. You can see that I've used my Martha Stewart Floral Vine punch on both the outside and the inside of the card. My sentiment is a Heartfelt Creations stamp and is stamped in black, Then I've used my Labels 4 Die to cut as well as to emboss. Then I made a larger cut to frame the first. Behind those are a random doily from my stash as well as some fussy cut flowers from the patterned paper. I then added a few tiny buttons as per the sketch.

I always like to use ribbon on my cards, so I've added a double bow using some crinkle ribbon from the Craft Spot. Then I added a button without stitching .. the product of being in a hurry ... LOL I finished the card with a butterfly constructed from a couple of my Martha Stewart punches.  One small red pearl and it is ready to go!

I hope that you will join in on our card challenges. They are posted on the first and third Wednesdays and you have 2 weeks to upload your NEW project utilizing the sketch. Can't wait to see your cards!!

Thanks for coming by!

First Scrap That! LO from the September Hop

I thought I"d share some of my September Kit pages one at a time with a bit more detail.

On this first layout from Scrap That! Reveal Day, I've used a Prima gate stencil and some molding paster for a bit of fun. Then I added some fussy cut flowers from the Graphic 45 Ladies Diary paper along with a favorite Dusty Attic branch that I snipped in to 3 pieces. I've used the ivory Petaloo mixed blooms from the kit as well as some small Primas from my stash. I love love love the chunky worsted yarn that Kate put in the kit this month and now I want to go buy some more! Didn't it just make the yummiest bow?  This layout is based on a sketch by my sweet friend and co-leader, Leah Schaeffer of Stuck on U Sketches. I guess you could say that mine is a loose interpretation this time!

Here is Leah's sketch:

And here are a few close-ups of my work.

Using the Prima gate stencil ..

The Dusty Attic branch painted with Ivy GM and Dirty Martini GG.

And here is that yarn that I loved so much!

Thanks for coming by again! I am back tomorrow with SOUS's Card Sketch Reveal Day!
