Card and Tag Set ~ Scraps of Elegance

Hello, hello!

Sandi here with you today ...
What a lovely weekend we had here in Texas .. and now it's time to get back to business, right?

Today I'm sharing a fun card and tag set that I created using the September Scraps of Elegance Kit "Falling Leaves."  I'm always needing a card of some sort around here and having a co-ordinating tag for a gift is a real plus!

For the card I've primarily used Blue Fern Studios Apricot and Amber collection along with flowers and embellishments from Prima's Amber Moon collection. Papers include Amber and Apricot Birdsong and Friendship as well as a small strip of Amber Moon's Pumpkin Season. The co-ordinating chipboard pieces are Blue Fern Studios and are found in the Elements add-on. I've tucked in lots of small bits of Prima's ephemera also from the Elements add-on. Flowers are all from the Floral add-on. Those wonderful Blue Fern Studios seedlings are from your amazing Main Kit!

Just a little close-up of the seedlings and other details.

Don't overlook the sweet leaf brad found in the Main Kit. Those add such a nice touch and are part of your Main Kit.

I might have to keep this tag for myself because it just makes me happy!
I went crazy on layers with Prima's Amber Moon ... Autumn Sunset (both sides), Pumpkin Love and Into the Woods. Punching the edges is so fun when you're doing tags and gives them such a great finished touch. Next I added layers of notecards and ephemera along with the Amber Moon flowers from the floral add-on.

Here's a little close-up view. I've included the ribbon from the Main Kit but I snipped it really narrow for my use here and just tucked it in.

Just a little dab of gesso and some tulle (stash) to complete the look.

Here is that wonderful Main Kit. Please visit the Store to see which Kits Melinda still has in stock. Also there are lots of basic scrapping supplies there as well.

See you soon!

Busy as a Bee ~ Scraps of Elegance September Kit

Hello, everyone!

Sandi here with you today sharing an Autumn inspired, masculine layout created with the Scraps of Elegance September Kit "Falling Leaves."

This layout features sweet grandson Joseph at the petting zoo. It was in my "to scrap" pile and I thought it would be perfect for these bright orange tones. I love a good pop of orange although I tend to do more peach or coral. But this looks amazing on autumn-themed paper! And paired with golds and brown ... yummy, so perfect!

I went simple in design this time and only did a small amount of gesso splattering ... otherwise clean and simple on this one. I've paired Blue Fern Studios Amber and Apricot "Flora" and "Chapters" to complete my layers along with some of the co-ordinating chipboard pieces. I've also added the Blue Fern Studios Pretty Pumpkins chipboard which is found in the Chipboard add-on.

I doubled my floral add-on this month because I wanted to have plenty, plenty .. well, a surplus actually, lol. They look so beautiful used here with my sweet boy! And there is one of the Pretty Pumpkins peeking out there which was altered using the Brusho in Sandstone from the Color add-on.

My photo layers (and the florals) were from Prima's Amber Moon collection which pairs so nicely with the Blue Fern Studios products.

A few pieces of the co-ordinating chipboard goes a long way in creating a co-hesive page. You may recall that the amber stones by Prima were found in the Elements add-on Kit. And ... I love the silk leaves from the Main Kit ... so perfect for layering.

In reality, I am not quite ready for Fall just because it so quickly fades to Winter around here. And I am not a fan of Winter at all. But I have to admit I love looking at Fall colors and Fall decor.

This Busy as a Bee chipboard fits Joseph to a T. He's a busy boy!

That's it from me today. Here's a photo of the Kit and a LINK to the online store, so you can check out what's available!

Thanks for coming by!

Sunny State ~ Scraps of Elegance September Kit

Hello, everyone!
Welcome to my Blog!

Sandi here with you today sharing a delicate, feminine Design Team layout featuring the September Scraps of Elegance Kit "Falling Leaves."

I am also entering my project in the More than Words October Challenge found HERE. You must be inspired by the Word "Delicate" and include the Creative Challenge of including fabric (I've used cheesecloth.)
...

"Sunny State of Mind"

This pretty, floral paper is from Blue Fern Studios Amber and Apricot collection and is called Tweet Melody. I've paired it with Prima's Amber Moon "Pumpkin Season" wood slat paper.

For a solid focal point, I altered the Blue Fern Studios "Autumn Leaves" chipboard. After priming with gesso, I added gelatoes and Distress ink until I had the perfect color chipboard frame. Before I added to my page, I prepared a nice background with gesso, crackle paint, mists and random stamping. Next came the fun of putting everything together. using my florals and all the great matching chipboard and ephemera included in the Main Kit and add-ons.

And of course, my fave funny lady, Lucille Ball.

If you don't have your Kit yet, here's a pic of everything that is included in the Main Kit. Also, you can shop the Scraps of Darkness Store to see everything that Melinda has in stock.

Here's a nice close-up of the chipboard which was additionally colorized with the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse from the Creativity add-on. My photo layers were from the Amber Moon paper "Pumpkin Season." (Straws and arts stones are from my stash.)

I loved adding the Blue Fern Studios seedlings (Main Kit) as well as ephemera from the Elements add-on.  I used the large oval color co-ordinated sticker from Blue Fern Studios to further ground my photo layers. The floral add-ons have all the perfectly co-ordinating flowers to finish out your pages.
And look at that sweet butterfly from the Prima ephemera pack!

At the top of this close-up you can see some of the Prima washi tape (Elements add-on) that I added to my background to give a nice aged, distressed look. I loved how this little grouping came together using the ephemera and the chipboard and florals.

And of course, you know I love me some flowers!
And I finally had a chance to use that great photo of Lucille Ball.

Thanks for coming by!
Hope to see you over in the Facebook community!

"Blessed" process video for Scraps of Elegance

Hello, blogger friends!

Thanks for coming by today. Sandi here with you today sharing my first project created with the gorgeous Scraps of Elegance September "Falling Leaves Kit." This  Kit is full of some of my favorite things as well as my fave Fall colors! I also have a process video for you this time around.

I've scrapped this photo of little granddaughter Zoe before but this Kit was made for all things Fall! The Kit papers feature Blue Fern Studios Amber and Apricot papers as well as Prima's Amber Moon Collection by Frank Garcia. All the extra co-ordinating embellishments and mixed media products make for lots of scrappy fun!

Because I've included a link below to the my process video, I'll just share some quick close-up photos of the finished project.  I love altering the Blue Fern Studios Organic Corner Vine with the Wheat Embossing Powder as well as a tiny bit of the  Nuvo Cinammon Spice.

Aren't these Amber Moon flowers divine? They were dabbed with white gesso and then adorned with some of the Blue Fern Studios Paprika seedlings. Here you can see one of the Prima Parisian Amber Stones.

There is a wonderful Amber Moon ephemera pack in the Elements add-on, so I used it to the fullest!

The wonderful circular vine is from the Main Kit and is from 49 and Market.

Note cards and ephemera from Amber Moon.

I doubled my floral add-on because I love these flowers so much!!

Don't hesitate to use your chipboard in unexpected ways. Just because it is called a corner vine, doesn't mean you have to position it in the corner!

One last shot of the Blue Fern Studios seedlings.

Okay, lastly I'm attaching the YouTube video. I hope you enjoy watching.

Be sure to visit the Scraps of Darkness online store to peruse the latest in scrapbooking supplies for any and all kinds of projects!

Creative Embellishments September Challenge

Hello, hello!
A little personal creative time is way past due, don't you think?

Today I'm playing along with the Creative Embellishments September Challenge which can be found Right Here!  I decided to create a much needed card for my card stash.

Here is the inspiration photo. Initially, I thought I'd create something with numbers and letters in mind but the color palette was too good to resist!! So .. away I went.

Above is a collage of all the Creative Embellishments products used:

Foliage 18 chipboard
 Circle Bokeh Stamp
Distressed Crackle Stamp
Life 3x4 Wood Veneer
and
Seasons Change Flair

Just another quick look at the card. I've used some Blue Fern Studios Chesterville paper that I thought would be perfect for this inspiration photo palette. I used 4 different papers for my foundation. Then I used the CE wood veneer grounded (on a Prima doily die cut) as my anchor. Since it was light in color, I used some gelatoes to age it.

Here are a few of the yummy Prima flowers used to accent to card.  And of course, the oh so-perfect-for-Fall CE flair button.

My Creative Embellishments chipboard flourish was painted with Distress paint and then ink with the same color. In the end, I dabbed some Stickles on it for a little shine.

Swooning here because I have a thing for polka dot flowers! But seriously, I included this shot because much of my stamping (which is the twist) got hidden  under the wood veneer and the florals. However, you can see it here I you look closely.

I added some more florals on the upper right side to balance the card.

And there you have it ... a finished card!
And a challenge entry!
I'm glad I played as I wouldn't normally put these colors together but they look great!

Thanks for coming by!
I hope you'll visit the Creative Embellishments store. There is currently a 20% off sale.
See you soon!

Lucy Collecting Eggs ~ Scraps of Elegance, project #4

Hello, scrappy peeps!
It's time for me to share another project created with the July Scraps of Elegance Kit which features 49 and Market's Cottage Life collection as well as KaiserCraft's Lilac Whisper along with tons of embellishments.

"Collecting Eggs"

I found this wonderful old "still" photo of Lucille Ball among my Lucy photos and knew I wanted to use it if it possibly worked out at all. (The photo was taken by John Springer and is part of the Corbis collection now available through Getty images.)

I've used the back side of Cottage Life: Fresh Delivery as my base layer and included a torn layer of side B from Bicycle Alley. You can see that I've fussy cut images from Watering the Garden and Cottage Cut Outs.

To add some interest, I threw some watered down gesso across the center of the page before adhering a Blue Fern Studios Swirly Circle chipboard piece from my stash. Everything was built upon those layers.
Once my basic composition was figured out, the layout went together fairly quickly.

I adore the sweet Papermania notelets which serve as doily layers. The remainder of the layout relies heavily on the Cottage Life layered embellishments from the Elements add-on as well as flowers from the Floral add-on.

My title was computer generated and adhered to a piece of the striped side of the Garland paper.

More flowers tucked all around and dabbed with white gesso to blend.

My "Lucy" subtitle was just small alphas from my stash. I had one last layered butterfly and used it here!

Just a quick dimensional shot.

Here's photo of the July Scraps of Elegance Main Kit. Last time I checked it was still in stock ... but they go quickly! To ensure that you never miss another Kit, you'll want to visit the Scraps of Darkness/Elegance Store and begin you Kit subscription. Personally, I order all the add-ons, so that I'll have plenty of co-ordinated supplies.

Elements add-on, sold out

Floral add-on, sold out

I guess that wraps it up for today.
As always, we so appreciate your dropping by and supporting us!

See you next time!
