Passionate about ... More Basic Grey Curio! ~

I thought I'd share a couple of DT projects that I did earlier this month for Generations Crafting using Basic Grey's Curio collection.  (BTW, right now Floren has this on sale for 25% off.)

Now, I'm hoping I'm not the only one out here with this same Glamour Shots hairdo and make-up. Went with a family member and had these done ... oh, my! But at the time, it was fun!

I had a great time making my own doiley for this page using my friend Beatriz Guzman's technique. You can visit her blog HERE. Essentially I cut longer strips into about one inch strips and layered them around the circle.  Looks great! (Thanks, Bea!)

I used my Martha Stewart deep edged punch near the bottom of the page on that gorgeous Chiffonier paper .. but then made it somewhat opaque by adding some fringe-y beaded trim above it.

Of course, I added flowers, bling and a butterfly. Then computer generated my journaling.  Here are a few close-ups.

Speaking of Bea .. she recently sent me the template for the mini albums with the bamboo skewer spine and sent along the cutest card.

This was another fun layout to do of my dgd Maddison getting her diploma! Her sister finished in May but Maddie stayed another semester to play soccer for the team. I don't normally use alot of green and yellow together .. mostly yellow (because I love green and use it often) .. but really love how this turned out. The yellow really brightens up the page.

Again, I used the Basic Grey Curio collection . chiffonier, textile, upholestery and pinking shears. The bling is a Prima Say it in Pears in light brown, the butterflies are from my stash and the punch was another one of my Martha Stewart deep edged punches. My title was again computer-generated.  It was a really quick page but I just love the color combo!

Thanks for coming by and taking a peek.

Share in our Joy! ~ SOUS 2-18-2011

Happy Friday, everyone! I for one am ecstatic that it is Friday .. been a long, busy week for me!

Today I want to share with you my take on the sketch that we are revealing for the next challenge at Stuck on U Sketches. I hope that you will hop on over there if you haven't been yet because we are introducing 4 new designers, saying good-bye to 2 and we introducing a new sponsor as well!

For this page, I used my February Swirlydoos kit along with some flowers and ribbon from my stash. First, I had this awesome new photo of dgd Maddie with her fiancee, Marcos, that I wanted to scrap.  But secondly, my kit contained some of the new Graphic 45 Core'dinations embossed cardstock. Well, this piece has clocks on it with the hands set to 3:00 .... which is the time of day for Maddie's and Marcos' wedding  .. so my inspiration sprung from that clock. I cut my cardstock so that I could maximize the clocks and get the larger one approximately where there is a circular photo on the sketch. Then I sanded it really well for definition.  Using my craft knife, I trimmed around the clocks so that I could slip my larger photo behind them.

The word Joy was cut using my Cricut Winter Woodlands cartridge .. go figure?! Then I computer generated the words Share~in~our, printed them out, cut them apart and tucked them here and there among the Prima flowers.  I love that awesome feather that came in the kit. My journaling is partial wording from their wedding invitation.  I did quite a bit of distressing to my page .. good ole Zutter Distrezz-it-all .. plus a little hand tearing and folding.

The paper as well as the mirrored embellishment are TPC Studio Grandma's Attic.  I tucked a filmstrip between the mirror and a Prima flower.

Here you can see the embossed clock and see how the sanding brings it to life.  I had lots of fun putting this page together .. I always enjoy working with earth tones.

They're Here!

World, please welcome Danny and Bobby Nelson, born this afternoon to our dd Dara and her husband Kevin.  We could not be more excited than this!

That's Danny on the left and Bobby on the right (in the photo above)

.. named after their proud Grandpas!

That's Grandpa Bob with Bobby on the left and Grandpa Dan (my hubby) with Danny on the right. I've never seen 2 men so excited over new grandsons!

But that's okay because I'm excited too! (Camera caught me unprepared .. sorry.)

More details later but suffice it to say that these are the biggest twins I've ever heard of .. 6lbs. 7 oz and 8 lbs. 5oz.  Whee! And 2 pounds difference between them .. very unusual!

God has richly blessed my family this day!

How do I Love Thee? More Bo Bunny Crush

Thought I would hop on and share a couple of projects with you that I did for Floren at Generations Crafting using the Bo Bunny Crush collection.  It seems that Bo Bunny never disappoints.

Floren actually ran these projects last week on her blog but I was not able to post at that time due to weather-related power outages and other incidents.   But I did want to post them and show you a few close-ups. The photo is of my dd Danielle ... who covered her face during a photo op! That girl has the greatest sense of humor .. I love that about her! So, I had a ball doing this page .. I love the colors and was just delighted to be getting this photo scrapped.

I did some wet paper distressing and stitching around the outer edge.  I love the look of stitching but don't leave my machine out for handy use.  The cabinet doubles as an accent table.

As you can see, I went all out with the Prima and Petaloo.  Then I used some black seam binding as ribbon and wove it through my flowers.

I cut a chandelier from my Home Decor cart and used it in one corner after using a few rhinestones. I also cut an accent piece from my Reminisce cartridge and used it at the top.

Finally, I took one of the cut-outs for my journaling block. The little birdcage was from the 3-d sticker package.

Lastly, I wanted to share the treat bag that I made with my one remaining sheet of paper.  I used Wrap it Up to cut the bag. Then decorated it with a b/w gingham ribbon and a flower.

Side view

Then I took my Crush scraps and ran them through the paper shredder for filler. I plan to put a treat in the bag (chocolate) for my hubby for Valentine's Day, along with a card I did the other day.

Thanks for taking a peek! Hope you are safe and warm. I am so looking forward to the warm weekend that is in our forecast!

Love Bandit ~ a Generations Crafting DT project

Floren sent me some of the new Basic Grey Hopscotch collection which is full of muted peaches, pinks, blues and brown. Great for either girl or boy ..

Here I did a quick layout of my dgd Marianne wanting to be a cowboy (the Lone Ranger) and play along with her brothers who were doing the same! So, here I have called her my Love Bandit!  I can't seem to get enough of the new mid-panel design. I love how it puts the focus on the photos. For a list of the papers and embleiishments used, please visit my gallery HERE at Generations Crafting.

Above is the second project I made with Hopscotch.  I was very short on time, so I just did some simple paper layering and added a few embellishments from the collction.  Then I cut the title with my Cricut.

Now ... for a chance to win this collection, go Here before Monday night Feb 7th and leave a comment.

Also, don't forget about Floren's February promotion. Click here Here for details.

Merry and Bright ~ SOUS DT 2-04-2011

Hello, fellow crafters! Hope you have been having a safe week. It has been an ICE-plague here in my part of Texas with frigid temperatures and often long hours without heat and electricity during some of the coldest weather on record .. whew! Can't wait for this weekened's warm-up!  To those of you who endure this every winter, I tip my hat to you!

Anyway, my post will be somewhat short but I did want to get my SOUS project posted in time for the reveal.  This layout is really gorgeous IRL,  at least IMHO .. heehee!  Unfortunately it did not photograph too well even with a bit of sun.  The papers are Creative Imaginations IOD Night Divine from my December Swirlydoos kit.  These are somewhat muted and they may account for the somewhat drab appearance, along with our cloudy skies.

These were family photos taken at Christmas and it felt good to get some of that done .. I am still way behind! I loved using the large die cut .. it set a great backdrop to the page. I have used gold braid from my Bo Bunny Noel stash, along with some Petaloo Canterbury blooms in burgundy and some holly leaves.  To get an even darker shade, I painted some Burnt Red Glimmer Mist on my blooms and Forest Green Glimmer Mist on my leaves. I love painting with my mists versus misting with them!

I wrapped a large bow around one corner like you would a gift and then topped the bow with one of my blooms.  My journaling tag dangles from the bow.

Just another close-up of one of the Night Divine embellishments which I used as my title.

A close-up of the braid and some of the blooms.

I got this shot thinking you could read the journaling but it's still rather hard ..   oh, well, it was nothing special. I am just trying to do a better job at journaling this year even if it's short.

If you haven't already been over to Stuck on U Sketches , I hope you will visit and downlaod the sketch for this time. Then link up your project so that we can see what you did!  Also, don't forget to check back next Friday at SOUS for another tutorial.

Hope you have a great Super Bowl weekend ... it's been a little crazy down here this week! And will likely get crazier until it's all over! Whew!

S.W.A.K. ~ Generations Crafting

Well, I'm back with another design project for Floren at Generations Crafting.  This one was quick and simple to do. I am once again using the Bo Bunny Crush papers and pairing it with a photo of my little grandson kissing his sister. Aaaawwww!

Anyway, I had the circular piece left over from a previous projects, so I used it with a couple of distressed and inked 6x12 panels and the reverse side of a brown patterned doily ..  I wanted to use the white side. My photomat was cut with the ACY Cricut cartridge.

Then I added some black lace, some Prima Say it with Pearls and Roses, and some awesome red Petaloo Chantilly blooms and holly leaves. I finished this page off with some ribbon and dimensional stickers that came with the paper collection.  Here are a few close-ups:

Here are a couple more Bo Bunny Crush projects:

Don't forget the February promotion over at Generations Crafting. The details are in the post below.  You won't want to miss this one! Floren has lots of great products on sale and you can also get your name in the drawing to win 5 entire collections of papers and co-ordinating stickers.  Yes, I said 5!

Some Kind of Wonderful ~ Design Project for Generations Crafting

Well, first of all, I just adore this photo of my dgd MacKenzie with her 2 best friends, counting the dog LOL!

The BoBunny Olivia collection just blew me away from the get-go! When I saw the sneak last summer, I knew I had to have it for the Fall. I could use it over and over again! Love the large die cut paper and all the patterned paper. Here I have teamed the die cut with some yummy Prima flowers from Generations Crafting's store and some Dusty Attic (the gate) from my stash. The Wonderful title was cut with my Cricut but the remainder of the title is computer generated.

Some simple punch work, inking and distressing was all I needed to compliment this great photo. I love how it turned out. Here are a couple of close-ups of the florals.
