~ Flying Unicorn Creative Team ~ 2nd post for today

**If you are looking for the Mini-album Blog Hop, scroll on down to the second post below!**

I'm so excited that I can finally announce that I am now on the Creative Team at Alda Stevens'  Flying Unicorn Store.  I have admired her work for so long, loved her sketches and drooled over the things in her store. And now I'm on her CT .. pinch me, somebody!

Specifically, I will be working with the Kit of the Month products and can't wait! I should receive my first kit around the middle of the month and post my first 2 projects with it the first of September along with some sneak peeks the week before. Then 3 or 4 more projects a few weeks later. I will also be working periodically with other items from the store and for submissions to the Enchanting Creations Magazine. Working on that right now!

Flying Unicorn carries some of those hard to find items not carried in other stores in the USA like Pion Design papers and The Scrap Cake (Karola Witczak and  Kinga Spiczko ) paper lines .. so yummy.  Alda also sells handmade flowers and other embellishments. Flying Unicorn  has a forum (ya gotta check it out!) and of course, the online magazine,  Enchanting Creations.

Singing a New Song ~ Sous July 22 ~

Hello, everybody! It's reveal day at Stuck on U Sketches and whew! I have been majorly busy working ahead on some DT projects AND getting ready for my dgd Malerie to come live with us for a few months while she takes graduate classes at the Summer Institute of Linguistics in Dallas, Texas.

Malerie has partnered with Wycliffe Bible Translators and hopes to be placed in Mali, Africa working in the area of ethno-musicology. Simply put that means composing music consistent with a specific culture.  Anyway, she is here now and we are excited to be a part of this new undertaking!

So, for today's sketch I chose a photo of Mal and then selected my papers based on the colors in the background.  Interestingly, I once again turned to my Prima Moulin Rouge papers. These are certainly not something that I would normally buy for myself but I loved the end result. Sometimes it's fun to be pushed out of your box!

The large circle was first cut with my Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and using my Imagine.  Then I used Lisa Gregory's corner punch deco technique found HERE on the Swirlydoos website.  Thanks, Lisa! My photomat was cut using my Cricut Sentimentals cartridge and embellished with flatback pearls.

I did quite a bit of distressing to my papers using my Zutter Distrezz-it-all. A few of the edges were torn and some layers were added underneath, a few after being punched with the MS Floral Vine Punch. Love that thing!

My title is a mix of Prima Sugared Letters and Making Memories tiny alphas. The florals and the pearl swirls are all Prima. Because I had some new K and Co butterflies, I chose to use them on my page as well. Lastly, I had to throw in a bit of Dusty Attic chicken wire that was painted ivory.

I think that about covers it! This was a fun page to do and I was so glad to get it done before Malerie came so that she could see it displayed and be encouraged by it.

Don't forget that Stuck on U Sketches has some awesome blog candy this month. But you have to play to be in the drawing. You will have 2 weeks before the next challenge to get your project uploaded. We have some exciting things coming along both next week and in August, so be sure to check back often!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for coming by!

Yes, I'm still here!

.. and I have been busy, busy crafting away with future DT projects! So, that means I can't show you anything until hmmm.... Friday ... but trust me, I've been scrapping!  I'm now pretty comfortable with where I am schedule-wise, so hopefully I can visit some of your blogs this week and see what you are up to. Of course, I'm sure that everyone is busy watching what's going on at CHA! That's always fun!

So, until Friday, I'm leaving you with this little sneak peek. Hope you have a great week!

SOUS July 8th

Yea, it's Friday again .. love Fridays, don't you?! Especially love Fridays at Stuck on U Sketches when we have a new sketch reveal! And crafters, you are in for a special treat. This week's sketch is an original done by our very own Nanne' Harry.  If you missed it at SOUS or just haven't been there yet, I have included it at the end of this post.

I hope that you aren't tired of wedding/bridal layouts because there are a whole bunch of them in our future together!! LOL This is another photo of dgd-in-law Olivia. There are a few similar poses that I will scrap soon. But I just adore this one with the bridal gown against the worn barn and with O's eyes cast toward the horizon.

So, I'm not sure how I came to choose this lovely paper by Prima (Moulin Rouge) from one of my recent Swirlydoos kits (well, not so recent really) but I'm so glad I did. The wedding colors were an almost black shade of wisteria paired with charcoal, so I was looking for those tones. The sketch calls for lots of white space .. but I cheated a bit by using the paper with a pretty margin.

Just a close-up of my Prima vine with some Prima and Kaisercraft florals and Prima Candy Gems in Fruity Tutti (beads) along with some ribbon and K and Co dimensional sticker.

I've been saving this large Prima flower for awhile .. figured it was time to use it.

Here you can faintly see the piece where I used the MS Scroll Heart punch and then embossed with the CB Swiss dots folder, then sanded the paper to expose the core.  For my title I added some long-stashed Prima sugared letters that I adore! If I had know how much I liked them when I saw them at the craft store, I would have stocked up for sure.

The sketch calls for a little something in this upper corner of the photo and I chose to use some tulle from the corsage they had for me at the wedding. I guess they are still in vogue  .. LOL. Plus some more florals and a wee little butterfly in that white space where he is not supposed to be .. wink, wink.

Just had to throw in a photo by itself.  My dgs did a great job of choosing a wife. She is practical, comical, natural and so very striking.

And here is that sketch as promised! Nanne' says that sketching is easy .. yea, right?! It exceeds my skills for sure.

Okay, one last thing.  There is a bit of blog candy over at SOUS, so hurry over and grab the details.

Thanks for coming by .. I am hoping to make it to more blogs this week although we are gearing up for yet another big party this weekend! But I will see you soon!

July Sketch for Practical Scrappers ~ Jannike ~

Hi, all! Thought I would hop on real quick and post this page I did last week using one of the June sketches over at Practical Scrappers.   This was based on Jannike's sketch and you will find that on my left-hand sidebar. She always does such a great job!

This was an engagement photo of my dgs and his then finacee, now bride.  Did lots of techniques on this page although I did have a fiasco or two. But it was a  chance to relax and have a little fun, too. Love the colors and these yummy papers by TPC Studio. I thought the earth tones went well with the photo.

Just a floral and embellie cluster using up some stash along with a few newer things.

Barely had room for my title .. had to get in all that other stuff first, right? Stamped in the 4 cornerss with a foam stamp and paint. The stamps are so old that it fell apart when I cleaned it after, boo-hoo.

Hope you had a great Fourth if you live in the USA. For all, I hope it was a good weekend.

See you back here Friday for the next Stuck on U Sketches  reveal. We have an original sketch coming up that you won't want to miss!
