Twinkle Little Star ~ 13 Arts

Hello, 13 Arts fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing a layout featuring my newest little grandson.
I thought that the new "Under the Stars" collection would be perfect for a newborn project.

Firstly, I chose my papers and embellishments, then applied clear gesso to everything. The base papers are Constellation Paper, Under the Stars and Moonlight Paper, Under the Stars.
When that was dry I used the Doilies Mask/Stencil to add texture to my background. It was my first time using it and think it is so pretty ... perfect for a wee baby.

As that was drying, I painted my chipboard (Under the Stars Chipboard Set, 12x12) using the Ayeeda paints: Ayeeda Paint, Matte WhiteAyeeda Paint, Vivid Yellow and Yellow Amber Water Ink. I also used the Matte White to paint my flowers (Exotic flowers, 12 pcs.). They are more ivory in reality and I wanted them to be more pure white.

I did some fussing cutting of a few embellishments from the Under the Stars Elements paper A4 and also included some designs from the Under the Stars Ephemera Pack.

For blending and subtlety, I randomly dabbed 13 Arts white gesso much like you would do stamping. I was going for a more delicate look.

Before adhering my focal area, I layering in some Ecru Sisal for texture.

My flowers were mostly layered under my composition but peek out just a bit.

The final touch was splattering some of my Navy Blue Splash Water Ink all around the focal area. I had planned to use it more boldly over my stenciled area but decided that I was liking the soft blue and white project with just the pop of yellow.

I am so glad that you dropped by today.

New Oversized Tag for Creative Embellishments!

Hello,  Creative Embellishments fans!
I can't believe how fast this month is flying by, can you?

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite things which is an oversized Large Tag from the store. These run 5.5 inches by 10 inches, so more than enough room for all your special layers and embellishments! It's the perfect canvas for loading things on .. which is what I tend to do, LOL!

My focal piece  is one of the Deer Heads which I sprayed with walnut ink and then added some Prima wax to the antlers.
TIP: In between my paper layers, I've added corrugated cardboard so that I could also tuck in flowers and/or my other chipboard pieces.

Here you can see the wonderful Doily 2 which has the same treatment as the Deer Head, just different sprays and waxes. You can also see a "new to me" piece which DT member Debbie Burns has used a few times: the Tree Rings. How have I not spied them in the Store? They are fabulous unaltered and then just tucked in most anywhere on your project. I've also used an older piece: the Frond Set 5 which is the perfect flourish piece in my opinion. I added a bit of wax here as well ... just randomly.

Here is a close-up of the upper right hand corner which has more of the same pieces as above. For perfect blending, I've dabbed everything with some white gesso. You'll note that I also added a hatpin from my stash. That's how you know I'm loving the project! Wink, wink!

And the star of the show, my Deer Head from the Deer Heads set.
He was a little hard to photograph but he sure is versatile! I originally got him to just tuck in as a "funky" layer much like home decorating but for today, he's center stage.

I hope that you have found time to play along with our November Challenge. If not, you can check it out HERE. You have the chance to win either a $25 or a $50 gift certificate to the Store!

Thanks for coming by today!
See you next time!

JOY Christmas Card for Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
Today I'm sharing another Christmas Card and Tag set. Normally I don't like to rush the seasons but the Christmas Card making has to start early or it will never get done.

I've used another shaker from Creative Embellishments because it is NEW and such a fave already! I did go with an "out of my comfort zone" color scheme of blues and whites. I thought that would look nice and frosty!

After layering an trio of blue patterned papers, I did some random stamping with the Distressed Moroccan Stamp and brown Stazon ink. This will add a little dimension to your projects. That particular stamp is a big fave for me on cards because it is a nice subtle pattern.

Next I added my Joy Shaker which was painted stark white.
Before closing the shaker, I poured in some sequins from Spieglemomscraps.
Once the shaker was complete, I adhered it to the card and added a snowflake from the Large Snowflake Set. For a snowy look, I grabbed some Aleene's Glitter Snow and brushed it all over the card and shaker.
Additional embellishments were white eyelash ribbon, a flower and white butterfly.

Here's a little close-up:

When the card was done, I moved on to the tag which was SO much fun to create!
I am absolutely nuts over the Jumping Deer set. They always make the most incredible element on any type of project. They are designed in such a way that they provide all the moment you need to create something sophisticated and charming.

My deer was just randomly dabbed with white paint.
The Oval Scalloped Frames behind him is more solidly painted.
I've tucked in a couple more of the Large Snowflake Set. These snowflakes are such a great way to add a wintry element to any project and just add that extra "something" we often want.
I've stocked up on them!!
Of course I wanted the same snowy look as on the card,  so I added the Aleene's Glitter Snow rather heavily to the frame and other portions of the tag.

I finished up with more ribbon and a few flowers and sequins.

Here's a close up for you:

These cards and tags will be so handy when the holidays actually get here!

The November Challenge ~ 13 Arts

Hello, 13 Arts friends!

It's Sandi here hosting this month's challenge. I have created a mood board that I hope you will love and find inspiration from.
Perhaps you will be inspired by the colors of the images or maybe a single image will catch your eye. Maybe you will be drawn to the forest scene or perhaps you will be inspired by the tablescape.

For me, this month's challenge is all about COZY and even more, home and family.
Wherever you live and regardless of the season, I think we all appreciate the warmth of our favorite things. And sometimes, we grieve the passage of time only to realize there is something new on the horizon.

The main RULE is that you must use at least one 13 Arts product on your creation and kindly share what you used.

Have fun!

And here is my take on the challenge:

Creative Embellishments November Challenge

November already?
This has seriously been a crazy fast year!

But regardless, this month's Challenge over at Creative Embellishments is enough to get you thinking all things cozy, autumn-y and "wrapped in a blanket" warm.
What better way to acknowledge the change of the seasons than with the adorable Leaf Shaker

I altered it with background paper and then some walnut ink.
Of course, I also "had" to add some leaves which I grabbed from the Branch and Leaves set.
For a finishing touch, I added a title from the Autumn Word Set. This was a fun and quick way to use up some REALLY old papers from Basic Gray and Websters Pages.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

And here is the challenge image:

The twist is to add wood.

That's it from me for Creative Embellishments.
Can't wait to see how you interpret the challenge!
