"Victoriana" for 13 Arts ~ Lucille Ball

Hello, scrappy friends!
Today we are featuring a few Design Team projects over on the 13 Arts blog which feature the new Victoriana collection.

I decided to create my project on one of the Discontinued MDF Hearts that came in my original DT package last year.

After choosing a paper from the Victoriana 6x6 paper pad, I adhered it to the heart with gel medium. Then I used a craft knife to cut the heart design.

For dimension I used modeling paste pushed through the new Tattered Diamonds Stencil 6x6. When that was dry, I added color with the new Color Glow Andalusite

I elevated my photo of Lucille Ball with corrugated cardboard and added ephemera from the Victoriana Ephemera Pack as well as some paper from the Victorianan Paper Pad A6

The watch face and flower are from my stash. Listed below are the 13 Arts products used:

Unforgettable with 13 Arts ~ Sandi Clarkson

Hello, scrappy friends!
Today I am excited to share my Solo post for March.
I wanted to design and create a layout using a recent photo of a family friend and thought it would pair nicely with the new Unforgettable collection

As always, I prepared my base paper (A Day to Remember paper) with Clear Gesso in case I did lots of wet media work. I then decided to merely color my Modeling Paste with Coral Acrylic Paint. Then I applied that through the new Unforgettable Memories Stencil. I loved the effect and how it mirrored the flowers in the paper.  Before moving on, I did some random stamping with black ink and the new Vintage Letter Stamp A7

My paper layers were created mostly from the Everlasting paper which I distressed and punched with an old paper punch. I made myself a couple of long vertical strips by merely cutting some one inch strips of the same paper. These were then trimmed to about 10 inches in length.

It seems that I haven't been reaching for my transparencies nearly enough, so I grabbed the new Victorian Collage Transparency and trimmed off a section to go below and to the right of my photo.

I also tucked in some ephemera from the Unforgettable Ephemera pack as well as fussy cutting the word "Remember" from the Timeless paper and using it as my title after backing it with some corrugated cardboard.

Under my photo you will note a doily chipboard from the Unforgettable chipboard set which I painted with Ayeeda white matte paint. I layered more of the transparency in this area before adding my flowers and last few embellishments.

I love the convenience of the ephemera packs!
I did take time to color my Dried Roots with some Olive Green Water Ink. The florals are older ones from my stash as are my 3 pearls.

The finishing touch was just to add a bit of  Colored Light Gray Grit and splatter some watered down
  White Gesso

Thank you for coming by today!
Hopefully you found some inspiration for your next project!

Happy Birthday Cards! ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, scrappy friends!
Sandi here with you today sharing a couple of fun cards for Creative Embellishments.

Can you guess what these two cards have in common?
Well. firstly, they are designed with Creative Embellishments but secondly, they both were created using some very, very old Basic Grey. I was rummaging around for something to coordinate with the
Happy Birthday Flair and finally got to my BG stash and there you have it!
I was just in the mood for something different .. happy and fun .. certainly not my usual colors!

Okay, let's take a closer look at each card.

This time around, I went with my Ivory card stock bases versus my usual white one.
Then working from an old sketch, I came up with this design.

Creative Embellishments products used were:

The Large Clock Face 4" was stained with walnut ink. I placed and one Artist Trading Coins on top of the clock near the center. The coin was papered with one the BG floral papers. I added my yellow  flowers next because I wanted to be sure I got my Happy Birthday Flair positioned perfectly .. 2 on the left and 1 on the right. Then I inked the word "ageless" from the Always Word Set and placed it on the ATC.

Some white paint splattering, twine and moss  ...  and it was done!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I almost didn't use this Shaker because several on the team have already used it BUT ... I have a dear friend who loves all things Irish! So, I created this one for her birthday (which is in July) but I thought I'd go with the Shamrock theme since we are just barely past St. Patrick's Day. She will LOVE it!

I used the same basic sketch on this card and worked on painting, papering and assembling my Shamrock Shaker Set. Love that it has the papered background. For a fun twist, I used a sequin mix that has some pink in it. It is from @spiegelmomscraps and is called Picking Wild Flowers.

t was finished with some rhinestones and a bow ... so cute!

There you have it!
Two fairly quick birthday cards.
I have lots of them coming up in the next few month!
As always, choosing my papers is what takes me forever ......

Stay safe, everyone.

Hopefully, you will have some time to be creative instead of reading every single bit of news that comes your way.
I am trying to focus on my blessings while I social distance.

See you here soon!

Oversized Lucy Tag for Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!

I'm back with you today sharing another Large Tags creation.
This time I've used a vintage photo of Lucille Ball, my awesome Creative Embellishments products, and some collaboration foil products from Rinea.com. My tag papers and media products are all from 13 Arts

I started by selecting one of the Large Tags from the oversized tag set and covered it with papers from the 13 Arts Summer Rhapsody  6x6 paper pad. Then I prepped it with 13 Arts clear gesso before using the Distressed Patterns Stencil and pushing my 13 Arts modeling paste through it.

Next I prepared and colored the new Feel The music chipboard piece which I thought would make a great base layer and go with the Hollywood theme. I will definitely order more of this piece!

While all of that was drying, I turned my attention to the Rinea.com products. We are collaborating with them this month, so I upped my game and took the time to die cut both a doily piece as well as layers from Donna Salazar's Rose Creation flower die.

It's been a hot minute since I've taken the time to create handmade flowers but with the help from the Rinea Mocha/Gold Glossy Solid Packs & Rolls and the Rinea Earth Tones Foiled Paper Variety Pack I've got some gorgeous flowers! I think the textured paper from the Earth Tones Foiled Paper Variety Pack  was a big win in helping to keep with the textured feel that I prefer and cut down on some of the "shiny."

I colored some cheesecloth to layer under my photo placed that over the die cut Prima doily. While I had the color out, I painted some pink over my stenciled area. For definition, I did use some bronze Prima wax on the edges of the tag to coordinate with my flowers.

I finished with some 3D balls, pearls and ribbon. Of course, I had to add the "Love" die cut from 13 Arts because we all Love Lucy, right?

Thank you for coming by today!
We appreciate your support of Creative Embellishments!

Adventure ~ Amelia Earhart Layout for 13 Arts Challenge

“…decide…whether or not the goal is worth the risks involved. If it is, stop worrying….”
Amelia Earhart.

Hello, creative friends!
Sandi here with you today sharing my most recent layout for the 13 Arts blog.

For the month of March, we have the most wonderful Challenge image from Design Team member Alena. I will share that at the end of this post. Here is my take on the Challenge using a stock photo of Amelia Earhart.

I began by tearing a piece of the Back in time paper - Victoriana and layered it over the The Clock paper - Victoriana. Then I added a layer of Clear Gesso to protect the paper from any color I might add and to help the color move easily. After one failed attempt, I decided against doing any stamping because the paper is somewhat busy all by itself. I did add some texture, however, by pushing Modeling Paste through the Planes Stencil. Because I was using a photo of Amelia Earhart, I wanted to add the planes which are from the Travel the World collection.

I've used some papers from the Paper pad A6 "Victoriana" as a photo mat along with some embellishments from the Victoriana Ephemera pack. To continue the theme of my project, I opted to layer in some gauze which was colorized with both Yellow Amber Water Ink as well as Brown Water Ink. Before completing the focal area, I decided to add in some of the co-ordinating chipboard, Chipboard set 12x12 "Victoriana and used the Rusty Bronze Rust Effect Powder along with the Rust Reagent. After adding some random florals from my stash, I was not satisfied with all the gray tones and decided to add some rusty tones around the focal area. I used a combination of the Brown Water Ink along with a small amount of  Yellow Amber Water Ink

Lastly, I colored some 3D stones and adhered those for both texture and to soften the effect of the added color.
I finished with a small cluster below and paint splattering of white and then some black.
Mt titles were cut from the TRAVELING 12x12 cardstock elements "white ENG

Creative Embellishments March Challenge!!!

Hello, scrappy friends!
It's time for another Challenge over at  Creative Embellishments

Can you believe that it is March already?
I should be thinking Spring and actually I am in my personal life but I have one last wintry project for you!

This month I was inspired by both the colors in the Challenge image as well as the photo of the woman surrounded by lights. My project photo is of a mannequin in a Bergdorf Goodman holiday window was taken in 2016. The store  windows in NYC during the holidays are always an inspiration to fellow artists of all kinds. My photos are certainly not professional but they hold wonderful memories.

My six (6) Creative Embellishment pieces are the Large TagsBerry Frame 4BerriesChipboard Snowflakes, Shine Flair Silver and "Chilly" from the Blizzard Word Set.  My paints and mediums are all from 13 Arts except for some snow glitter per the twist.

I've also used a sheet of Glossy Silver/Gold foil from the Frosted Foiled Paper Variety Pack from Rinea as part of our March Collaboration. I cut the foil sheet into a doily with an older Prima die. Love how it turned out.

Here are some close-ups:

This was so fun to create!

Here is the Challenge image:

The twist is to add glitter!

Now it's your turn to play!
