2020! Oh Happy Day said the Elf ~ Creative Embellishments

Well, it's almost time to say "Happy New Year," CE friends!
And just for the occasion, I've created a 2020 card and tag set with a fun twist.

I decided to go with gold 13 Arts paint for my 2020 Shaker, so followed suite and chose some blue papers with gold stars from the 13 Arts Under the Stars collection. Painting and assembling the shaker took some time but the payoff is a show stopping card!

To enhance the theme of time and decades, I added a Large Clock Face to set underneath my shaker. It was painted with walnut stain, gold shimmer and some added Peacock wax for patina. While that was drying, I added the sequin mixes to my shaker. They are a combination of gold, white and reindeer mix from Buttons Galore and More.

To heighten the jazz factor, I also added some Chipboard Snowflakes which were painted white and given some iridescence with Stickles paint. Next I added a contrasting hot pink bloom and some old Petaloo berries along with a nice flair from the Shine Flair Gold set.

I dabbed the elements with some white gesso for blending and then admired my work before moving on to my tag!

Just a heads up that painting and assembling the more intricate shakers does take some time and patience. But totally worth it!

I happened to have my latest shipment of CE products on my scrappy table and stumbled on the Santa's Helpers pack. When I saw the little fella with his arms thrown up with glee, I knew he was very, very happy that Christmas has come and gone for another year. Now, he can take his much needed January vacation!

So I painted him a neutral off white and dabbed some navy color around to replicate clothing. For a title I went with a couple of words from the Holiday Sentiment Word Set which simply say "Happy Day." You know he's feeling it!

I finished with a gold wired ribbon and another flower and a Flair.

Wow, I can't believe this is my last Creative Embellishments post for this decade!
If you hurry, you have a few more days to make a quick New Years project!
And don't forget the December Challenge will be over soon.

Thanks for coming by the blog today!
See you soon!

13 Arts Glittered Card with Sandi!

Hello, 13 Arts fans!
Today a few of the Design Team members have some projects for you featuring our Glitters/Splash Glitters and Glitter or Metallique paints.

Here is a card that I created just for you! :)

I haven't done a large rectangular card in a while although I think they always look so elegant!
So, I created a card base from an 8.5 by 11 piece of card stock trimmed to create a 4x8 card.
For my layering pieces, I have chosen Cracked Paper, Grungy WallsScratchy Walls Paper, Grungy Walls and Grungy Walls, Postcards A4. These were inked on the edges and then assembled as shown above.

I chose some stars from the Under the Stars Chipboard Set and painted them Ayeeda Paint Metallic Dark Yellow. Next, I topped them with some of the Ayeeda Paint Gold Glitter ... easiest way to add glitter without making a mess!

I adore the title pieces from the Speaking of Which cardstock, so I cut the It's Your Day from the smaller font and used that one. I inked it and added just a hint of glitter paint to the edges.

For my focal point, I added some mesh ribbon and florals from my stash. Before adhering and arranging them, I painted them all with the Ayeeda Paint Gold Glitter. After looking around, I also found some large ivory balls from an old Valentine's pick and tore them off for my used here!

All in all, I am quite pleased with how this turned out!

Thanks for coming by today!
I appreciate you so much!

My Boy ~ 13 Arts Solo Post

Hello, 13 Arts friends!
Sandi here with you today sharing my latest creation for 13 Arts.

One of my dear family members recently send me a professional photo of her dog, Jack with no explanation. In my family that is code for: would you please make a layout for me? And since the holidays are near, I put forth my best effort to get something created in time for gift-giving.

I chose a few of the Grungy Walls papers: Tattered WoodRusted and Scratchy Walls and used my favorite paper tearing technique to create a background.

Many of my embellishments were created using the gorgeous Grungy Walls, Postcards A4.

I started with my usual coat of Clear Gesso and then did some random stamping with the Stamp Nature A7 to create some dimension. For further texture, I used the HIS TIME stencil and pushed Modeling Paste mixed with Magic! Powder through it.

Behind my photo I added a chipboard piece from my stash that was altered with my 13 Arts Patina Bronze Mist. Toward the end of the composition, I added some blue paint from the Watercolor set 16 pans - set of watercolors. These colors are quite vibrant and you can use them as is or water them down to your preferred intensity.

To heighten the interest around my photo, I've added some chipboard stems from Chipboard set Summer Rhapsody A4 and some Ecru Sisal. These were left unaltered.

Because this dog resides on a horse ranch with his owner, I felt I needed some to add something from my jar of "mechanical pieces." I was looking for a buckle or some such thing but all I had was basic screws, washers and so forth. I love that these add a touch of grunge to my layout. Multi-purpose medium was used to secure them.

My title chipboard is from Chipboard Set Blue Magnolia A6 and was mounted on elements from the Grungy Walls, Postcards A4.

I have finished with some twine and a few old flowers from my stash.
That's it from my today.

More Christmas Cards with Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
The Christmas Countdown is truly under way, right?

Here are a couple of fairly quick cards to inspire you. Once you have an idea of what you want to create, the longest part often times is waiting for the paint to dry even with a heat gun. I'm impatient, I know.

This duo was created with some very, very old Webster's Pages papers and done in an "out of my norm" rectangular shape. I think this style looks super elegant. Add your chippys along with a few embellishments as needed and you are done!
Just add your sentiment inside.

For this one, I chose to use a few of the Christmas Bulbs which were painted with 13 Arts water inks and then dabbed with distress inks as desired. There were stacked randomly with some added gold ribbon and a bit of paper florals from a Kit from last year.

For a greeting, I added the Christmas Sentiments which were stained with walnut ink and jazzed up with a bit of Stickles and more of the paper florals.

My second and maybe fave of these two, is the reindeer in the trees from the Reindeer Set along with a couple of the Tall Trees and a snowflake. My reindeer was painted with a cream paint and them inked with vintage photo. I added a few spots with more of the cream craft paint. My trees were paint with 13 Arts water ink, distress ink and topped with Aleene's Snow Glitter. They were super fun to play with.

Next I added my title which was stained with walnut ink.
For balance, I added a snowflake that was coated with white gesso. Afterwards, I thought a star might have been more suitable but I rather like the snowflake.

Lastly, I added a few flat backed pearls!

Here are a few close-ups of both cards:

Creative Embellishments December Challenge!

Hello,  Creative Embellishments fans!
I can hardly believe that it is December again already!

This month’s Color Challenge is fabulous for doing any type of holiday project. And of course, adding some glitter is a given!

I created this fun Christmas Card and Tag Set with papers from my stash, some Creative Embellishments chipboard and paints/glitter from 13 Arts. Products used are Doily Frame Set 2Jumping DeerLarge Snowflake Set and Christmas Sentiments

Although I’m not usually drawn to creating with silver and gold, I love how this turned out! So, challenging oneself is a good thing.

I painted the Doily Frame Set 2 with some old silver metallic paint by 13 Arts; then I added some old gold glitter for shine and to meet the challenge requirements. While I had the silver paint out, I also painted the Christmas Sentiments words for both the card and the tag.

Next, I focused on the deer. I painted both of them with an antique white craft paint and then began adding a bit of wax and followed up with plenty of the old gold glitter paint from 13 Arts. For blending, I used some vintage photo ink as well as white gesso.

The snowflakes were simply painted with white gesso and glammed up with the same glitter paint! Easiest way to add glitter without making a mess!

To really finish off the project, I added some gold flowers and berries from Petaloo. For the tag, I did some paper punching and added a ribbon.

Here are some close-ups:

I hope that you will play along with us this month!
I know it's busy but you probably have to make something anyway, right?

Twinkle Little Star ~ 13 Arts

Hello, 13 Arts fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing a layout featuring my newest little grandson.
I thought that the new "Under the Stars" collection would be perfect for a newborn project.

Firstly, I chose my papers and embellishments, then applied clear gesso to everything. The base papers are Constellation Paper, Under the Stars and Moonlight Paper, Under the Stars.
When that was dry I used the Doilies Mask/Stencil to add texture to my background. It was my first time using it and think it is so pretty ... perfect for a wee baby.

As that was drying, I painted my chipboard (Under the Stars Chipboard Set, 12x12) using the Ayeeda paints: Ayeeda Paint, Matte WhiteAyeeda Paint, Vivid Yellow and Yellow Amber Water Ink. I also used the Matte White to paint my flowers (Exotic flowers, 12 pcs.). They are more ivory in reality and I wanted them to be more pure white.

I did some fussing cutting of a few embellishments from the Under the Stars Elements paper A4 and also included some designs from the Under the Stars Ephemera Pack.

For blending and subtlety, I randomly dabbed 13 Arts white gesso much like you would do stamping. I was going for a more delicate look.

Before adhering my focal area, I layering in some Ecru Sisal for texture.

My flowers were mostly layered under my composition but peek out just a bit.

The final touch was splattering some of my Navy Blue Splash Water Ink all around the focal area. I had planned to use it more boldly over my stenciled area but decided that I was liking the soft blue and white project with just the pop of yellow.

I am so glad that you dropped by today.

New Oversized Tag for Creative Embellishments!

Hello,  Creative Embellishments fans!
I can't believe how fast this month is flying by, can you?

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite things which is an oversized Large Tag from the store. These run 5.5 inches by 10 inches, so more than enough room for all your special layers and embellishments! It's the perfect canvas for loading things on .. which is what I tend to do, LOL!

My focal piece  is one of the Deer Heads which I sprayed with walnut ink and then added some Prima wax to the antlers.
TIP: In between my paper layers, I've added corrugated cardboard so that I could also tuck in flowers and/or my other chipboard pieces.

Here you can see the wonderful Doily 2 which has the same treatment as the Deer Head, just different sprays and waxes. You can also see a "new to me" piece which DT member Debbie Burns has used a few times: the Tree Rings. How have I not spied them in the Store? They are fabulous unaltered and then just tucked in most anywhere on your project. I've also used an older piece: the Frond Set 5 which is the perfect flourish piece in my opinion. I added a bit of wax here as well ... just randomly.

Here is a close-up of the upper right hand corner which has more of the same pieces as above. For perfect blending, I've dabbed everything with some white gesso. You'll note that I also added a hatpin from my stash. That's how you know I'm loving the project! Wink, wink!

And the star of the show, my Deer Head from the Deer Heads set.
He was a little hard to photograph but he sure is versatile! I originally got him to just tuck in as a "funky" layer much like home decorating but for today, he's center stage.

I hope that you have found time to play along with our November Challenge. If not, you can check it out HERE. You have the chance to win either a $25 or a $50 gift certificate to the Store!

Thanks for coming by today!
See you next time!

JOY Christmas Card for Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
Today I'm sharing another Christmas Card and Tag set. Normally I don't like to rush the seasons but the Christmas Card making has to start early or it will never get done.

I've used another shaker from Creative Embellishments because it is NEW and such a fave already! I did go with an "out of my comfort zone" color scheme of blues and whites. I thought that would look nice and frosty!

After layering an trio of blue patterned papers, I did some random stamping with the Distressed Moroccan Stamp and brown Stazon ink. This will add a little dimension to your projects. That particular stamp is a big fave for me on cards because it is a nice subtle pattern.

Next I added my Joy Shaker which was painted stark white.
Before closing the shaker, I poured in some sequins from Spieglemomscraps.
Once the shaker was complete, I adhered it to the card and added a snowflake from the Large Snowflake Set. For a snowy look, I grabbed some Aleene's Glitter Snow and brushed it all over the card and shaker.
Additional embellishments were white eyelash ribbon, a flower and white butterfly.

Here's a little close-up:

*******

When the card was done, I moved on to the tag which was SO much fun to create!
I am absolutely nuts over the Jumping Deer set. They always make the most incredible element on any type of project. They are designed in such a way that they provide all the moment you need to create something sophisticated and charming.

My deer was just randomly dabbed with white paint.
The Oval Scalloped Frames behind him is more solidly painted.
I've tucked in a couple more of the Large Snowflake Set. These snowflakes are such a great way to add a wintry element to any project and just add that extra "something" we often want.
I've stocked up on them!!
Of course I wanted the same snowy look as on the card,  so I added the Aleene's Glitter Snow rather heavily to the frame and other portions of the tag.

I finished up with more ribbon and a few flowers and sequins.

Here's a close up for you:

These cards and tags will be so handy when the holidays actually get here!

The November Challenge ~ 13 Arts

Hello, 13 Arts friends!

It's Sandi here hosting this month's challenge. I have created a mood board that I hope you will love and find inspiration from.
Perhaps you will be inspired by the colors of the images or maybe a single image will catch your eye. Maybe you will be drawn to the forest scene or perhaps you will be inspired by the tablescape.

For me, this month's challenge is all about COZY and even more, home and family.
Wherever you live and regardless of the season, I think we all appreciate the warmth of our favorite things. And sometimes, we grieve the passage of time only to realize there is something new on the horizon.

The main RULE is that you must use at least one 13 Arts product on your creation and kindly share what you used.

Have fun!

And here is my take on the challenge:
