Hello, scrappy friends!
I'm excited to share my second creation with the January "Be Mine" Scraps of Elegance Kit.
This kit features so much! You'll get plenty of projects out of this baby!
If you missed out, be sure to sign up for a subscription and never lose out on another Kit!
On my recent trip to New York City in early December, one of my assigned duties was to take photos of the holiday windows of the major department stores. This window at Bergdorf Goodmans was titled "The Book Club." Bergdorf started the preparation for this window back in March of 2016. It debuted in late November, so you can just imagine the level of artistic design and minute details, It was simply enchanting and I couldn't wait to scrap it!
My base layer is Blue Fern Studios' Heartland Love Song Serenade. The colors were perfect for my photo. Although this layout is not about Love per se, I do so love seeing what other artists create … especially those pieces that really stir my soul. So, I made this work! And created it with the Main Kit, the Flower add-on, the Elements Kit, and the Color add-on.
After preparing my background with stenciling and super heavy gesso, I added layers of the Heartland Love Notes paper, flowers, Kaisercraft ephemera and of course, the Blue Fern Studios Heartland chipboard which was covered in Black Gesso and then treated with Nuvo Embellsihment Mousse from the Color Add-on. The Mousse was also used on my butterflies and applied to most of the flowers.
I filled in my floral cluster with some Spanish moss and some green microbeads from my stash.
Here is a good look at the Blue Fern chipboard. That mousse was a perfect finishing touch for adding some character to my chippy. I've combined some Blue Fern Heartland blooms (Main Kit) along with Prima flowers from the Flower add-on. Note how I've tucked in the Baker's twine form the Kit,
Just another angle of the same corner with a bit more detail. I used some of the Kaisercraft ephemera to write my title, The Book Club.
Here is a closie of the other corner where you can see the Kaisercraft wooden pieces and ephemera. I used a black photo mat to make my photo really pop. I did also use some green mist from my stash to bring focus and dimension to my photo. You'll notice that I used 2 of the same photo. One is simply tucked in as a layer .. mostly to hide a design on the paper that I didn't want to show.
I also used another of my sweet Petaloo blooms form the Flower add-on to use along with the Prima flowers. Again another wooden butterfly icon with mousse.
Two last photos and I'll wrap this up! I just want to show you where I hid the more Valentine image with the second photo. And also to give you a glimpse at the height of the page.
One last angle shot. Wow, that photo makes me want to take that trip al over again!
Thanks for coming by!
Be sure to watch for more designs from the Scraps of Elegance and Scraps of Darkness Design Teams!
