13 Arts Foil Tag with Lucy

Hello, creative friends!

Today I'm sharing a fun Tag created for 13 Arts using primarily the Mr Handsome collection.

My photo is one of Lucille Ball imitating comic Charlie Chaplin. She is posed with a green onion saving as her cigar. I've been waiting for just the right project for this fun photo and think this one is perfect!

I chose a tag base from Creative Embellishments and covered it with paper from the Mr Handsome collection. Next I fussy cut a large piece of the Mr Handsome Foil transparency and adhered that as my next layer. It spills out over the edge of the tag which is part of the fun!

After that, I triple matted my photo and put two large pieces of corrugated cardboard under it to provide dimension and interest combined with my other elements. I placed it offset to the right side of the tag so that I could add flowers and such to the left.

I had lots of fun choosing ephemera and other elements to go along with my Tag and make it interesting to look at. Some is from Mr Handsome while some is from In Love and also In Bloom.

Since Lucy is dressed as a man, the Mr Handsome collection was a perfect choice for going with the photo theme. There are lots of little bits adhered with foam squares.

At the top you can see the man with the umbrella and that is part of the Foil transparency that I initially fussy cut.

I finished off with some toffee colored seam binding and then took my photos with the Tag resting on another sheet of Mr Handsome.

"Shaking it Up" for Creative Embellishments

Good morning, Creative Embellishments fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing a couple of cute shaker cards.

I do not profess to be a skilled shaker-maker but since I have some family birthdays coming up soon, I thought I'd start making a few and replenish my card stash. Everyone seems to really enjoy getting a shaker and doing the little shake, shake, shake!
And yes, sometimes there is a little booty shaking to go along with it. :)

I still love, love my 13 Arts "Travel the World" collection and have used it for both of these cards, relying on the 6x6 paper pad linked below.

Aren't these two cards just so bright and cheerful?!

I started with the Flower Shaker as I've been wanting to give it whirl. I backed the flower similarly to backing a cut file being sure to stain my chipboard first so that that step was done. I went walnut brown to get a very dark brown. Then I assembled my shaker which is simply the circle in the center of the flower. Tip: Mark a spot for alignment on both your chipboard and backing paper for faster matching to assemble.

I used the Rusty shaker mix from Buttons Galore and More and also added a few brown microspheres from 13 Arts.

My sentiment is from the Small Sentiment Words set.

To bring the card up a notch design-wise, I added some old 3-D stickers from my stash. And lastly, added a quick tiny single loop bow!

Even my husband had to stop and take a look and give me his thumbs up!

Next, I worked on this cute little Bee shaker

Adorable!

I fussy cut some yellow paper from the Travel the World collection to adhere in the area of the wings. Otherwise, I left my Bee with walnut brown stain.

I filled the bottom of the shaker with Safari Sunrise from Buttons Galore and More. It is the bomb ... my absolute favorite shaker mix to date.

Next I added my sentiment again from the Small Sentiment Words

For embellishment, I went with an extra long-tailed bow topped with a velvet leaf and a small flower.

So, now I've got 2 cards done and about 10 more to go for my June birthday people.

Thanks for coming by the blog today.

"Love, Lucy" an Oversized, Loaded Tag ~ Creative Embellishments

Hey there, creative friends!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing one of my favorite kinds of projects - an oversized tag!

I love, love, love working on these Large Tags that Nicolle has in the CE store.

Golly, these things are 5.5"w x 10"h ... so such a perfect size to get your creative fix for the day!

I dearly love loading these babies up with layers and layers of products.

For today's Tag, I've used 8 Creative Embellishments products, not to mention the paper, ephemera, flowers and ink products.

This time around I've used a vintage photo of Lucille Ball and used lots of ephemera from both Tim Holtz and 13 Arts. My florals are all 49 and Market.

The  base paper added to cover the tag is from 13 Arts "In Bloom" collection as is some of the ephemera. The remainder is from various Tim Holtz collections. After adhering my paper to the tag, I added a layer of crackle paste and let that air dry. Once it dried, I sprayed it with Ranger Distress spray in Peeled Paint. When that was dry, I did some random stamping with the Distressed Harlequin Stamp.

My next layer after that was the Distressed Clocks fragments which were painted with the Walnut Distress Spray. While I was doing that, I also painted the same walnut spray to the Checker Border which I eventually used as my vertical element under my focal area.

I painted the Flourish Set 27 with both Distress Stain in Peeled Paint as well as in the Oxide version which looks a like patina here. In this photo you can also see one of the gold moons from the Mirrored Gold Moon Set. Perfect for the layout recognizing this Hollywood figure.

I thought that the Love Lock and Key Border Set would go nicely with my Lucy theme because .... doesn't everybody love Lucy? It has been altered with 13 Arts Alexandrite Color Glow. Here you can also see some of the 13 Arts Gold microbeads I used for texture.

I find myself buying and using the Flourish Set 27 over and over. There are SO many great Flourish pieces in the CE store but this one has my heart. You can get this Flourish as a single or a double. As noted above it was altered with Ranger's Peeled Paint Spray in Stain and in Oxide.

I finished off with a Flair button, gold paint splatters instead of white gesso and added a light olive green bow of seam binding to the top of the tag.

So, there you have it!

Another loaded tag that was SO much fun to create!

I have provided links below to all of the Creative Embellishments products!

See you next time!

Lucy Scrappy Memoirs ~ 13 Arts

Hello, creative friends! Did you know that actress and comedian Lucille Ball was a scrapbooker? Well, that's what I've read and photo #2 seems to document that. Today I'm sharing my June Solo Post for @13arts using primarily the older Bella collection, the Postcard Stencil and our luscious watercolors.

I feel like I haven't had the opportunity to create many projects with the Bella collection, so that's what I reached for this time. To help balance the designs in the lower corner, I decided to use 2 photo of Lucy.

Photo #2 shows Lucy looking at a scrapbook, so we will just pretend that she created it or had someone compile all her news releases.

I used watercolors for most of my color work and gave some of the Bella chipboard a light wash.

As usual, I included some stamping using the In Love stamp which is a new release.

I worked so hard on the chipboard door and wouldn't you know ... again as always, it's mostly covered!

I never dreamed that I would use the little pug dog but I think he belongs there, don't you?

Just a quick new from the side ....

And this graphic shows some of the products used from the 13 Arts online store. For you USA girls, check out Bluemoon Scrapbooking as they carry 13 Arts products.

Thanks for coming by today!
I hope you feel inspired to create!

Off the Page for Creative Embellishments

Hello, creative friends!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Today I'm sharing a project for Creative Embellishments which is an off the page 10" inch gear chippy.
It is a stand-alone piece but I photographed it on papers that match the collection used.

After deciding on the direction I wanted to go, I pulled out all the random steampunk and masculine products that I felt I might use on my composition. Then I added some 13 Arts Mr Handsome papers to line the large 10" Gear style 1 piece as well as the Round Ship Window Frame piece. Additionally, I matted my photo with the same paper collection.

Before adhering those two large pieces, I altered them with both Ranger Distress inks as well 13 Arts water inks. The Round Ship Window Frame was inked in black and then I added waxes to provide some dimension and shine.

I also added texture paste to the large gear piece before adding my color.

My photo frame is from the Handsome Frame Set . It was altered with Ranger's Rusty Hinge stain.

Next I went to work on the Gears (Set of 15) which are wood veneer. I quite liked the dirty side of them where you can see the laser burn but some of that did get covered in products!

The Propellers were altered with walnut stain and then had waxes applied.

I've been wanting to use the  Mini Pocket Watches and chose this mini version. I've altered it with Andulasite Color Glow from 13 Arts.

The sweet Seahorse is a combination of mostly Rusty Hinge along with Wild Honey stains. Actually, I threw lots of products at this piece trying to get it exactly like I imagined it. After while, I lost track! But for the final element, I did add some Cinammon Stickles.

Before adhering all the pieces, I used my 13 Arts Rusting Powder and the Reagent on my Gear pieces which is so much handier to use than vinegar. It gave me a fantastic rusted appearance!

My last steps were adding 13 Arts Old Gold microbeads and then a twine bow as well as some sisal under the photo for texture.

I am pretty pleased with how this turned out although I keep thinking it needs a little brightening.

For the moment I am done!
