13 Arts ~ Stickers and Add-ons Group Post

Hello, creative friends!
Sandi here with you today sharing a sweet slimline card created for today's Group Post over at 13 Arts.
Our focus item this month is Stickers and add-ons.

I have used stickers, chipboard, badges, a clip pen and the metal clock face.
Also, I have included Pastel Spring ephemera and die cuts from the Art Book, Vol 2.

First I cut my card bases using Pinkfresh crafting dies.
My papers are all from 13 Arts Pastel Spring collection.

After layering and stacking my papers, I chose my flowers from my stash along with the add-ons mentioned above. My Pastel Spring mandala chipboard piece and stems were altered with Smoky Quartz Color Glow.

My last step was to add some 13 Arts Violet Hologram glitter and add some splattering with the 13 Arts Pearl Pink mist.
Isn't that sweet bird so cute?

It's always relaxing to begin choosing elements to layer and seeing the final outcome!
More is better, right?

Just a quick glance at the add-on items used in conjunction with the cheerful 13 Arts Pastel Spring collection. Be sure to visit the 13 Arts Online Store to select some favorite items for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just a Dad and His Girl ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, Creative Embellishments fans!
Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my most recent layout.

I don't know about you but my Summer has been quite busy so far with no let up in sight for at least a few more weeks.  So, my thinking turned to creating something pretty but with less of the usual mixed media that I am inclined to use.

This is a favorite photo of me and Dad taken many years ago. I had just gotten my first pair of skates and Dad set about teaching me to use them with my Mom close at hand. Sadly, I did take a fall that day and hit my head but oh well, I did finally learn to skate!

I just recently ordered the gorgeous Flourish Border 3 and was itching to use it. Since I chose these earth tones for my papers (13 Arts End of Summer collection), I opted to paint my chipboard with Walnut Stain.  I also used Walnut on my awesome title piece Just a Dad and his Girl. The Walnut provided a great vintage vibe.

While that was drying, I added some random stamping with the Distressed Moroccan Stamp

I was inspired by an older layout of mine as a sort of sketch and it included lots of circular embellishments. So, I decided to take a couple of the Artist Trading Coins and covered them with some orange papers from the paper collection and tuck them in on both sides of the photo.

Next, I added some of my ephemera, then flowers and followed with some 13 Arts Black Microbeads and lastly twine.

I am so enchanted with this Flourish Border 3 that I already have another one in my stash for that rainy day when I might need it, ha! ha!

Another Design Team member requested this awesome title piece be created and man, am I ever glad that Nicolle obliged! It is perfect for this beloved photo from when I was young. I was and will forever be a Daddy's girl.

Butterflies, flowers and all done!

Thanks for coming by today!

See you next time!

Serenity ~ Mixed Media Canvas for 13 Arts Design Team

Hello, 13 Arts fans!

Today I'm sharing a mixed media canvas created with loads of 13 Arts products. My crackle background was done with modeling paste and Magic texture paper. After the canvas dried overnight, I began adding color the next morning.

I started simply enough with painting on Violet Water Ink followed by Olive Green Water Ink. I used my spray mister to move the ink and create the pattern. Next I painted on the Indigo Chalk mist, drying each color as worked.

When everything was nice and dry I created a Custom Metallic Wax using Citrine and Amber Color Glows mixed with glossy Decoupage Wax. I love how that work out and brushed it on with a stipple brush. I also colorized my Sunrise chipboard butterfly using the custom wax.

Since I wanted to work with jewel tones, I went through my Pastel Spring ephemera as well as my older In Bloom ephemera and planned how I would arrange these.

Next, I added some lime green roots in a few strategic areas and then began adding my photo and other embellishments. My photo is mounted on 3 layers of corrugated cardboard, so I have plenty of room to add embellishments.

I actually worked on the lower left hand corner first and once I completed that, I focused on my focal area.

I like to take some photos that will give you an idea of the dimension I like to create.
For interest, I tucked in a few metal embellish, this clock and also the spoon on the left which I filled with gold microspheres.

Feeling that something was missing under the photo, I added some dried gold canella which looks nice lying on the green roots and blends in with the microspheres. Over to the left of the photo, I've added a Flair badge that was from the 2020 late Fall release.

The Colors Glows that were added to the decoupage was, makes the butterfly really pop.
And I've always loved these bumblebees from the In Bloom collection, so had to add them here.

Here are a few more close-ups:

And these were my color products.

It was exhilarating to get my fingers inky after being away from my scrap table for the past 2 weeks. Lots of family events going on!

Thanks for coming by today!
See you next time.

Quick and Easy Birthday Cards with Sandi Clarkson

Hello Creative Embellishments fans!
Thanks for coming by the blog today.
Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing a couple of quick and easy cards.

For me, the hardest part is coming up with my design. So if that's you're problem as well, just do a little scraplifting of my basic design or sketch and make it your own.

This first one is for a sweet girl with a June birthday, so I've used some pastel papers from 13 Arts Pastel Spring paper collection and added my chipboard. I did add some paper punching for a feminine touch as well.

The party hats are from the Creative Embellishments Birthday Hats set and are simply painted with distress paint and popped up on dimensional squares. The etching detail on the hats ramp them up without any other need to embellish unless you wish.

The title is from the Birthday Word Set and is painted to match one of the art hats.

A couple of butterfly die cuts and a tiny row of pearls and this one is done!

This next card is more rugged so it's appropriate for a guy or for a young adult.
I applied 3 rows of paper and then painted my two pieces of chipboard with a navy spray paint from 13 Arts.

On the left you can see the awesome Washi Tape Cluster Shape 2  set which can really stand on its own design-wise and can be used so many ways. You will probably want to pick this one up next time you shop the store!

On the right is the You Rock piece from the Music Artist Trading Coins set which I backed with paper from one of the die cut packages because I thought the rusty, orange went well with the denim paper.

I've added a couple of die cut screws in the right hand corner and now this one is done as well except for the inside sentiment.

So, here they are photographed together. They certainly don't match but they are now in my June/July birthday stash and ready for giving. Of course, the grands will be expecting a little cash in there as well, ha!

I hope this inspires you to just get busy and start working on your card stash!
They don't all have to be a work of art!

Just use your stash and save yourself a few dollars for art supplies, right?

See you next time.
Sandi

July 1st Challenge ~ Creative Embellishments

Welcome to July, creative friends!
How did we get here so quickly?

Today I'm sharing my Design Team project for the Creative Embellishments July Challenge. This month we have a sketch challenge and the twist is to use a stamped image on our project.

I can't say that this is my favorite layout ever because themed layouts are always a stretch for me. However, I wanted so badly to use the "America" title piece from the Independence Day Word Set and couldn't find a family photo that seemed to work, so I settled on this vintage image from an older Graphic 45 collection. It's fun and I did use lots and lots of Creative Embellishments chipboard.
I also did some random stamping as per the sketch.

Here are my close-ups:

And here is the sketch challenge image:

And here is a LINK to the Challenge.

We hope you get a chance to play along!

Thanks for coming by today!
For those of you in the USA, have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
