Are you ready to make Valentines? ~ Creative Embellishments

 Hello, everyone!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing a couple of quick, easy Valentine themed cards.

I'm still struggling a little to get back in the creative groove after expending so much energy into Christmas prep around here. All the decorating, wrapping and cooking took over my mojo but it's all okay because we had a great family holiday! Totally worth the effort.

I think this card is my favorite of the two but it is hard to choose. I have really been loving the Heart Doodle Frames and altered this one with walnut stain and Finnabair waxes.

For a sentiment, I've used one of items from the Love Arrow Set and altered it the same way.

My papers are Fairy Whispers from Blue Fern Studios.
I did use a new rectangle die from Elizabeth Craft Design and love the little details it provides.

For embellishments I've added a floral, gold microbeads and a small ribbon.

This card background is from the same paper collection and I've used the same die which is the Rectangle Indent.

I also have a little love affair with the Heart Motif piece!
It is SO detailed and provides a the yummiest of backgrounds.
I altered it much the same way but used Old Silver wax along with a bit of the Gold wax.

My pretty Valentine title is from the Valentines Sentiments pack.
I just kept adding 13 Arts Color Glow until I got the desired result which ended up being Rubelite over multi layers of other colors, ha!

The pink resulted in a beautiful match to the papers and I love that it has highlights and lowlights.
To help it pop I dabbed a small amount of white gesso in a few random places.

And there you have it!
It was fun to play and do a little something for another season.

Thanks for coming by the blog today!
We appreciate you!

Dreamland ~ Winter Layout with Lucy and 13 Arts

 Hello, creative friends!

Who is busy working on Winter Projects?! Probably many of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere but not the Southern. :)

We don't get much snow here in North Central Texas but we do get cold temperatures during January and February. However, today there is sunshine even though the wind is howling and the temp is right around 32 degrees F.

Anyway, I decided to turn to a wintry theme and scrap this old publicity photo of Lucille Ball at the ice rink. Such a funny lady but one who did lots of serious drama early on as well as later in her career.

For my 13 Arts Design Team project, I opted to use two of our older collection, Dreamland and In Love.

I prepped my paper with 13 Arts Clear Gesso and then pushed modeling paste through a couple of our stencils, Falling Hearts done in a wide path across the bottom of the page and Let it Snow along the sides and down the center vertically. To accent those areas, I've used the gray Koala in the mini-watercolor set from Down Under.

For my photo mats, I've used papers from the A6 Dreamland collection. My ephemera is a mix of the two collections, Dreamland and In Love. I've added a few sticks from the backyard, cheesecloth, pearls and 3D balls to embellish. My photo frame and snowflake are from Creative Embellishments.

As a final touch everything got a splattering of 13 Arts white gesso.

Here are some close-ups for you to enjoy:

That's it for today!

Hopefully you will be inspired to sit at your craft table and create!

Items used above are available at the 13 Arts Store.

Thanks for coming by today.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Wintry Tag with Sandi ~ Creative Embellishments

Hello, CE fans!

Sandi  here with you today sharing a wintry creation for Creative Embellishments.

If you know me very well, then you know that one of my favorite (and I mean favorite!) things to create is a project done on one of our Large Tags. The possibilities are endless and I like the 5.5 x10 inch size so that I can really layer and layer and layer to my hearts content! Tags are SO relaxing for me to create with!

To begin I chose one of the tags from the Large Tags, set of 3 and adhered some papers to it using 13 Arts Home Sweet Home paper collection and their gel medium. Next I applied a layer of gel medium and later, when that was dry, I did some stenciling with 13 Arts modeling paste and the CE Snowflake Stencil. Love that stencil!

Next I selected my chipboard pieces and painted them all a stark white. Full list of products is noted at the end of this post

As a base for my matted photo, I first adhered 3 large older Prima florals. Then I adhered my gorgeous Pine Needle Frame which was my inspiration for this project! As I worked, I used a combination of corrugated cardboard, chipboard and florals to support this very layered composition. This is when I am truly in my element ... figuring when I can tuck and fluff and bring life to the work!

This time around I used 5 of the 6 flair buttons in the Watercolor Snowflakes set. The blue and white match beautifully with the other elements. And I've already ordered 2 more packs to have on hand! These may be my all time fave Flairs!

For a bit of novelty, I added some of the antlers from the Antlers set to tuck in here and there somewhat like you would a flourish or leaves. Originally, I intended to ink them with some brown tones but I really liked how they trick the eye when they are white. For a nice contrast and woodsy feel, some of my florals were chosen in brown tones instead,

Love how the antlers are a little unexpected pop.

Here you can also visualize a few of the Frosted Blue Acrylic Snowflakes. I decided to switch from the white ones that I've used a lot recently.

In the lower right corner of the composition, I added some of the lovely Falling Snow Set pieces to balance the heavy work on the left. Also, you can see three more of the gorgeous Flairs.

Of course, I finished my work with some splattered white paint which works nicely with the round dots found in the Snowflake Stencil.

A little more of the same on the right side of the photo. Oh, and one of the 13 Arts pine cones that I added in. My composition is about 4 inches high at this point, ha! Love it!

The ephemera is 13 Arts In Love collection. Such a great match to the Home Sweet Home!

One last Flair and a fluffy crinkle ribbon from @myscrapcabin is shown here!

Projects like this one where I can just keep adding and adding really make me happy! Endorphins were flying high here in my craft room.

Thanks for coming by the blog today!

We are always SO happy that you visit.

See you next time!

"Together Always" Christmas Layout ~ 13 Arts

Hello, creative friends! Thanks for stopping by!

Today I'm sharing my newest project for 13 Arts and featuring the Christmas Stories collection with what will probably be my last Christmas project for this past holiday season.

I've had this sweet photo printed out for a while and thought it was so tender and sweet and would work beautifully with the papers I selected.

I did a bit of paper tearing and ripping and then covered with clear gesso.

Next I added some texture with 13 Arts modeling paste and the Circle of Star Stencil.

When that was dry, I did some random stamping with the Back in Time stamp using black archival ink.

I love how festive the striped paper is and used it as my photo mat.
Next it was a matter of adding my embellishments.
My red crinkle seam binding is from @scrapcabin.

Here I've added some fussy cut elements as well as some adornments from the 13 Arts Store.
Check out the adornment (floral) section of the Store for unique background elements.
And I'm always up for a chance to use my 13 Arts gold microbeads.

I also matted my title pieces with the same striped paper.
Here I've also used the new Christmas Green Glitter Ink.

Although 13 Arts had some wood slices, mine are actually Tim Holtz that I had in my stash. They make such a good accompaniment.

For a little shine, I highlighted my stencil areas with Warm Glow Shiny Powder.

Look at that cool shine!
Lastly, I finished with some splattering of white paint.

In the lower right corner, I added some more of the greenery adornment along with some fussy cut packages and gold microbeads.

I think that is about it today!

Again, thank you for coming by.
See you next time.

"Winter Day" Layout for Creative Embellishments

Hello, creative friends!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my first project of 2022.

And while I'm at it, I'm SO glad to be back for another term here at Creative Embellishments!

I've been away from my craft room for several weeks now because of the holidays and I'm feeling kind of "rusty." So, I decided to grab some pretty paper, my CE products and a cute photo of my granddaughter. You'd be surprised at how fun this was to put together!

My papers are from the Yuletide collection by Blue Fern Studios.

For a more cohesive, wintry theme, I chose to alter all the chipboard with white paint as a base layer.
Then I added some sparkle to the snowflakes and title as well as a minimum of champagne color to the Snowflake Frame 3

After prepping my papers, I used modeling paste and the Snowflake Stencil to add texture to the background. Additionally, I did some random stamping with brown archival paint and the Distressed Moroccan Stamp. One of my faves!

Underneath the photo, you will find the gorgeous Snowflake Doily. I've let it peek out as much as possible by offsetting the Snowflake Frame 3 which encircles the photo. To make the focal point fuller, I added some of the berries from the Mini Berry Set. My title piece is from the Snow Word Set

The final CE product added was the amazing acrylic White Snowflakes. If you haven't tried these acrylic pieces, you should check them out in the store! They are a fab embellishment! I scattered those around in addition to a few flat backed pearls. Lastly, I splattered the page with white paint. Oh, and I added a bit of Aleenes True Snow.

Here are a few yummy close-ups for you:

I'm still feeling a bit rusty but it feels good to create on paper again. But I did certainly enjoy decorating my home for Christmas and all that it entails to make a memorable family holiday. Just a different kind of creating!

I think that's it for today!
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see you later this month!
